I was in Emporia at 9:00 for my doctor’s appointment. I thought it was my annual physical as when I scheduled it I asked them when I had my last year’s physical as I know you have to have them at least one year apart.
They had me down for a medication check. Now I get to go back and do a physical. What a joke and waste! I have been cranky about it most of the day. I was eight days too early for this visit to count as my physical.
He had received a preliminary report about my colonoscopy from the Doctor in Wichita. Don’t think they found anything of importance but the biopsy report wasn’t back yet. Dang, I wonder if that means they can’t identify what is wrong with me.
He did check my TSH level and it was 1.6. Just a tad low but not bad considering I have had two procedures the last couple of weeks.
After my very short appointment I went and picked Ellexia up and we went to Commercial Street Diner for breakfast. I was on my way to take her back home afterwards and told her I was going to stop and fill the car up with gas and take the car through the car wash and then head home. She wanted to go through the car wash with me. We did that and then I took her home. I stopped and filled the car up with gas after I dropped off Ellexia and came home.
I was cranky so I put myself in time-out and went back to bed. I managed to sleep another couple of hours.
When I got up I decided to create a new Amazon Gift Registry and put on it items to create a Go Bag for the released Detainees. I requested two backpacks, two blankets, 1 pair of sweat pants and 1 sweat shirts in various sizes, and a package of socks for women and a package of socks for men. I posted it and within five minutes every item was ordered.
Someone reminded me I forgot a travel toiletry set so I requested two for women and two for men and within two minutes those were taken care of.
I want to get some underwear to add to them to but I couldn’t find single pair of underwear on Amazon. I will look again and if I can’t find them, I will look in a store for single purchases. I know they sell women’s that way but not sure about men’s. I have very limited storage and don’t want lots of things to store. I will have to get several different sizes for both men and women so could end up with 20 plus pairs on hand if I order the packages of three or five or however they sell it.
Someone else wants me to add chapstick but you can’t get only one or two tubes of it on Amazon. They sell packages of four or six or 12. I am afraid it will go bad by the time I would use it up. Next time I go to town I will buy two single tubes of it and add it to the toiletry kits.
People are so incredibly generous. I think some were upset they didn’t get a chance to help out. I will see how big the backpacks are and what fits and if I have more room, I will add some more things.
It will be fun when it all comes in. I will fill one backpack for a man and one for a women and then when I get a call and find out the size of the person will add the sweat pants and sweat shirt at the last minute. I have charges and adaptors at home already. I also will add in a few snacks and two bottles of water.
The lady I spoke to yesterday that works with the transportation in Springfield, MO gave me this idea. She has personally purchased these items for the ones she transported. I suggested to her she does an Amazon gift registry and see if the donors will send her what she needs. Love how we can share ideas and help each other out.
I got caught up on most of the thank you notes. I still have some to hand write. I have to send emails to those that donate via VENMO as I don’t have their mailing address.
I got 80 stamps in the mail today as a donation. Asking for stamps turned out to be a good thing as I won’t have to buy stamps for six months now. I had purchased 1000 of them before the price went up and I have received over 1000 of them through the stamp drive. That will save my budget for the Pen Pal program, website expenses, and the special events that we do monthly for the Detainees.
So looking forward to the next couple of days of empty space. My soul and body needs that! I feel like my mind, body and spirit are not in sync with myself and I need to slow down and let all parts of me be put back together again.
Next week I have a haircut on Monday and then all empty space the rest of the week. Looking forward to that!
Sitting in gratitude with how quickly the new gift registry got taken care of. People are so generous and looking for ways to help. Now a part of them will go with each released Detainee. Wished we had lots of them to celebrate but we will honor each lucky one that we get to help.
Grateful my TSH was not too low, grateful for time with Ellexia after a disappointing doctor’s appointment, and grateful for the generosity of strangers filling the gift registry requests.
