This has been a quiet, stay-at-home day complete with a nap. I feel like I haven’t had one of these for a bit and enjoyed it. I did manage to get two loads of laundry washed, folded and put away but that is about all I got done.
I have felt achy and bone tired today. Not sure what that is from but maybe my body was reminding me to take a day of rest. I never did feel like I woke all the way up today.
I was expecting someone to come over and do something for me today but so far they haven’t made it over. Maybe they will come another day.
Tomorrow I have a lunch date with a friend. Other than that, nothing is on my calendar again. I don’t have anything on Saturday either. I do need to get some groceries one of these days. I might place a Walmart order for late tomorrow afternoon and drive in and get them. I had forgotten how much easier that is until I did that a couple weeks ago.
My ear is still crackling at times. I forgot to ask the doctor to look in it yesterday. It isn’t quite as bad today so maybe it will go away on its own.
I only got one thank you note written today. I have about six more to do. I have found I have to be in the right mood to write those as words can be hard to find sometimes. I haven’t felt very grounded today so my intuition is a bit off today.
I need to figure out what Love in Action is doing for the September special event and get arrangements made. Some of the events the Center has to order the supplies and they need a two week lead time. Trying to decide what to do – maybe Labor Day? After that will be Halloween which seems to have lots of options. Thanksgiving and Christmas won’t be far behind now. I need to put together a budget and see if I need to raise funds. I will be glad when the piece of exercise equipment gets here and I pay for our portion of it so I know who much it will be for sure.
I will send some notes to our Pen Pals and ask them for ideas of what they would like. I know one of them wants a Mexican feast but not sure I can get that approved. It would be costly to provide that for over 200 people. Maybe tacos would be doable though. I hate to ask the staff to have to cook things though. Bringing food in from the outside is discouraged.
I will be gone the first two weeks of November so whatever I do for Thanksgiving for the Center will need to be planned well in advance. I may have to do a fundraiser so need to get a budget and plans together so I can get that started if needed.
I spent some depressing time reading about the current policy on immigration and what is being pushed. It is becoming almost impossible to find ways for those that are not already completely through the system to finish up what they need to do and get to stay. Even those that have done everything correctly are being deported. Timelines for VISA’s are being push out four to six years and no guarantees are being offered that they get to stay for the process. I still can’t understand what the fear is behind all of this.
I am amazed that there are any transports to do as the vast majority of people that get picked up are not allowed out. They either have to stay detained and face years before they can be released or they get deported. Even those that have attorneys don’t fare very well.
One of those days where I had to stop and allow myself to feel all the feels of the hurt in the world. The national debt is staggering and we will all someday soon have to face the consequences of that. I got my property tax assessment today and because I added a room and bathroom, my taxes are going up over 30%. Yikes! How do seniors that are on a very fixed income do this?
And this too shall pass and all is well, and all will be well. These are all symptoms of bigger issues. Greed over enough for all.
My mind is rambling today. Random thoughts and scattered threads going through my brain. Make it make sense!
Grateful for a restful, quiet day, grateful for an afternoon nap, and grateful all is well.
