I went to Emporia early afternoon to pick up some groceries and a prescription that was ready. I also picked up two prescriptions for Kathy. She has trouble remembering to pick them up.
I sent out an SOS to a group of my friends to see if anyone would be available to come help stuff the gift bags for the detention center staff. I think all of them are going to be able to come except maybe one. It would be hard to do my life without my friends!
I am working on writing a note and signing the appreciation cards that will go in each gift bag. I think I am close to being half done. I will keep working on them tonight and hopefully finish them up before the gang gets here to stuff the bags.
It shouldn’t take us too long to get them all done. Not sure where I will put them to do them. I have a long table in the shed I can bring in. I think between the dining room table and the long table they will all fit. I will have to find some boxes to put them in so I can get them to the Detention Center next week.
I had some stickers someone had made for the No Kings Rally in Topeka when Love in Action had an informational table. I put one on each of the outside of the bags. Love how those things are available when I need them.
I got some wine today and am going to make a corn dip for tomorrow so we have some munchies while we work. I will run to the Dollar General and get the last two ingredients I need to make the dip and get some corn chips.
It will be a relief to have the gift bags all ready to go. I so appreciate my tribe showing up for me.
I am anxious about the meeting at the Center on Wednesday where I hope to find out if the Go Bags are a go. I am making a list of other questions I have for the top dogs at the Center. Maybe I can get several things accomplished at this meeting.
A lady has a big box of something for me to pick up Friday while I am in KC. Not sure who she got it from other than she said someone(s) did a collection from a list she gave them. Trusting it will be something I can use for the Detainees. If the Go Bags project isn’t a go, I’m not sure where I will store this stuff.
Jason offered his basement if I can’t find another storage/work space. Not sure I want to do steps but at least I know I have a storage/work space if all else fails.
It will be an interesting week next week. Have something everyday on my calendar already. Have a list of other things that need to get done too, especially if the Go Bag project gets approved. I will enjoy Monday as it may be my last real quiet day for a bit.
Need to find someone to update the website. It will become very important if the Go Bag project gets approved. My neighbor boy got home today but I’m sure it will take the family a bit to recover as they have been gone for over a week with the sick girl.
Best get back to finishing up the appreciation notes. I am on a timeline now!
Grateful for my friend’s help tomorrow, grateful for all the possibilities that are coming my way, and grateful to get this gift project finished up.
