Sure doesn’t feel like a Sunday to me. I was surprised when I read the day of the week on my iPad just now. Not sure what day I think it should be, just hasn’t felt like a Sunday.
My gang showed up for me today and we had 80 gift bags stuffed and tied up in less than 30 minutes. Oh my! What a back saver that was for me. Afterwards we sat and visited for a bit and caught up on each other and what is going on. We are all getting to be of an age where these bodies of ours are slowly breaking down. Some have really been through the wringer lately.
Now I need to find some boxes and figure out how to get the bags to the Detention Center. I will find some boxes tomorrow and then take them up to the Center Tuesday morning. It is so nice to have that project almost completed.
Haven’t done much else today. I had to run to the store twice today as I forgot something the first time. I attempted taking a nap twice today and didn’t find much sleep either time. Felt good to rest for a bit though. My tummy is doing its naughty thing this evening. Haven’t taken anything for it yet but have a feeling I should.
No plans for tomorrow other than boxing up the bags. I have some housecleaning to do. It is starting to bother me a bit. I should have cleaned before the gang came over but I am long past the stage of being concerned what they think about my housecleaning skills.
Tuesday I will deliver the bags in the morning and then I have a dental cleaning at the Vo-Tech in the afternoon. It usually takes a couple hours for them to do their thing as it is a student program.
Wednesday I have the meeting with the Detention Center that I hopes gives me the green light to proceed with the Go Bag idea. If I get the green light, I doubt we will be ready for distribution until the first part of December. I will need to raise a bunch of money first and give others the opportunity to participate with donations of socks, underwear, etc. Have another possibility for a storage space offered to me today so will see where that goes.
Thursday Roxy has her surgery. She has been good about taking her pills. I stuff them into a good size piece of hot dog and she has taken them right down. Sophia always gets a little bite of hot dog too. I will probably have to make two trips to town that day. She has to be at the Vet no later than 8:30.
Friday I am taking Kathy to the memory care clinic of KU in KC. I am meeting up with someone to collect a box of things they have already collected for the Go Bag project. We will also make a stop at Costco.
Luckily, the weekend is free and empty at this point. The next week looks a lot quieter so far but if the Go Bags are a go it may fill up quick.
Sitting in gratitude for my tribe today. It was fun putting the bags together with all the help. They made a job that might have taken me all day get done in less than 30 minutes. I am so lucky to have these friends in my life and that they dropped whatever they had planned for today to come and show up with eager hands and hearts wide open.
Grateful for my friend’s help today, grateful the bags are all assembled, and grateful for a quiet day tomorrow.
