I left for Topeka at 9:20 this morning. I had to stop and fill up with gas on my way. Gas is about $0.30 a gallon cheaper in Emporia than in Topeka.
Got to the doctor’s office at 10:45 for my 11:00 appointment. They called me back at 10:50. The nurse did her thing and it was only about a five minute wait for the NP to come in.
She did her thing and I was out of there by 11:20. Went to Chipotle for lunch because why not! Ate and then went to Emporia.
I stopped at Dunkin’ and picked up 16 dozen donuts. They had two employees carry them to my car for me while I paid. That was nice!
Stopped at the Detention Center when I got to Cottonwood Falls and it took four trips in to get all the Dunkin’ Donuts in plus the dozen that were low sugar and gluten-free. The lady at the dispatch window recognized me and asked if I needed Heather.
I left before Heather came out and I came home. I wasn’t home too long before I got a pen pal message from one of our pen pals thanking Love in Action for the donuts.
I was tired this afternoon. Kathy nor I found much sleep last night. I laid down three different times and finally got a short nap. Sleep is still in hiding around here.
Found a supplier on-line that sells backpacks, toiletry kits, and blankets for way cheaper than I expected I would be able to find. I have a meeting next Wednesday with the staff at the Center to see if the project is a go. If it is, I will send a request for a bid from the company and go from there. What I want they don’t sell in one package. I have to have the toiletry bags that are approved for air travel and they don’t sell those in a bundle with the other products. Not sure if I will have to buy things individually or if they can package them. Either way, it is way cheaper than I anticipated so it will be a win. Now to find out how much shipping charges are.
No plans for the holiday weekend. The rest of the items for the Staff’s appreciation bags came in so I can start working on those. I would like to take them up when I go for my meeting next Wednesday morning. I have a busy weekend ahead if I decide to push and get them all assembled by then. I am writing a handwritten note on an appreciation card and then have tissue paper to wrap the other goods in the bag and ribbon to tie it shut. That kinda thing is really not my strong suit but will see what happens.
I have something Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week so it will be a busy week for me. I’m not used to having something on my calendar every day. If the Go Bags are a go, things are really going to get busy for me.
Grateful the donut project is complete, grateful for a safe trip to and from Topeka, and grateful for three empty space days ahead of me.
