Last night was a very long night. By 8:00 my stool was still not clear yellow so I took two more laxatives. BIG mistake. They didn’t kick in until 2:30 this morning and then man did they work. Every ten minutes until 6:00. I got very little sleep last night.
Kathy and I left in the rain a bit early as I wasn’t sure if it would rain all the way or not and wanted to allow extra time. It did rain most of the way and some of it was serious rain. We got there in plenty of time but was grateful I didn’t have to stress and could allow myself to slow down for safety when it was needed.
I was rather dehydrated and was surprised when the nurse got the IV started with only one poke. She was good! They took me back for my procedure a little after 9:00 and I was out of there a little after 10:00.
Kathy said the doctor came bedside to talk to me afterwards but I don’t remember seeing him. Not sure what they found out other than they removed a couple of polyps. The office called and scheduled an appointment for me on August 24 to go over next steps.
I had trouble waking up this time. I think it was because this was the second procedure two weeks. I also hadn’t slept much at all last night. They were anxious to get me out of there. I was shivering and shaking but that didn’t seem to get their attention. I was grateful Kathy drove home as I don’t think I could have today. Two weeks ago I could have.
The care was good today but not as excellent as the first time. They didn’t really miss anything today other than I really felt rushed out of there. Last time the care felt a bit more personal.
I came home and took a nap. Felt better after that. I managed to eat something for the first time in 36 hours. I am working on drinking lots as I still feel a bit dry.
Grateful this procedure got done and hopeful they discovered what is causing my issues. The doctor will post the operating room notes to MyChart and I will be able to read them before my appointment on the 24th. I will also see the biopsy reports when they come back. Hoping the 24th will give me lots of answers.
I don’t plan on doing anything the rest of the day. I’m still pretty tired and not “normal” yet. Hoping tomorrow I will be back to whatever my “normal” is and I can go on with my life. This procedure has been hanging over my head since February! Grateful it is over.
Next week I have to go to Olpe on Monday to pick up the beef, Tuesday I have a lunch to go to in Manhattan, and Wednesday I have a doctor’s appointment with my primary care doctor. It will be a busy week for me. So far the next week has lots of empty space to look forward to.
Spent some time reading comments and posts about the election that happened earlier this week. Man, people can be cruel. I wonder if they would say those things to someone’s face? How have we lost the ability to listen to each other and disagree without becoming disagreeable? The facilitator of a big group I am in on Facebook posted about the threats she is getting from people that want her to do her group differently. I can relate to the facilitator’s post and feel for her. It is hard to take a stand in love and not get bullied. I attempt to stand in love anyways but somedays it is hard!
Feeling a bit drained, poked and prodded. My insides have been examined and they are complaining about it a bit! It will all have been worth it if whatever is going on has been discovered. I will allow my body to rest this weekend and be ready to face my busy week next week.
Grateful the colonoscopy is finally over, grateful for the kind care I received today, and grateful for Kathy’s loving presence and care.
