This has been a day full of God winks or glimmers as some people call them. Coincidences I can’t explain!
Two people added to the Birthday Fundraiser on the Love in Action Facebook page today. The total that people contributed to the cost of the pizza for the Detainees through the Facebook post alone was $656. The pizza cost $651. Mind blow number one for the day.
The pizza was on sale at $12 a pizza instead of the normal $15. That saved me over $150 as I ordered 50 pizzas. A God wink?
Other people also send funds using other methods. I think I have enough cash on hand to fund most of our fall and winter special events at the Detention Center depending on what we choose to do.
I got a call from the Detention Center. Someone had mailed a donation for Love in Action to the Detention Center and put Attn: Kay on the envelope. I went and picked that check up and it was for $500! Mind blow number two. For it to have arrived on my birthday – what a gift.
Jason invited me to lunch so Kathy and I drove in. When I got to the restaurant to meet him, Michelle was there too. Another glimmer!
My phone and iPad have been pinging all day with all the notes and texts people have sent wishing me a happy birthday. I am loved and I so appreciate all the ways people have showed it today.
Kathy and I stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home and picked up a DQ birthday cake. We each enjoyed a piece of it this afternoon. I kinda like turning 73! Lots of love, attention and special treats.
My friends from California that I met while I was walking the Camino eleven years ago FaceTime with me today. It is always a special day when they call and we catch up with each other. Carolyn is undergoing treatment for lung cancer. Tom is turning 90 in September.
They reminded me that eleven years ago today I flew to Paris to begin my Camino de Santiago adventure. Absolutely the best travel experience I have done so far. I am so grateful for all the lessons the Camino had to teach me. I still practice what I learned most everyday.
No plans for the weekend. Monday I have to go to Wichita for a doctor’s appointment. I will enjoy lunch at Chipotle while I am there and will stop at Costco and restock. Trusting the doctor will have some solutions to my tummy issues.
The rest of next week is empty space. I do need to figure out what we are doing at the Center for Labor Day and get whatever we are doing ordered. The person that I coordinate all this with at the Center has been at a conference all week and just got back today. Hoping I can catch up with her next week and get our plans made for all the special events for the rest of the year.
Sitting with a heart full of love this evening. It was a perfect birthday filled with special memories and special people and special treats.
Grateful for all the ways people loved on me today, grateful for lunch with two of my kids, and grateful the Detainees are enjoying a pizza treat tonight.
