I had to get up early this morning as I needed to have both dogs in Marion for their spa day by 8:30. I took Sophia for a walk and Kathy took Roxy and we headed over to Marion a little before 8:00. Both dogs loaded easily and didn’t seem to mind going in to the clinic for their haircuts.

Came home and did nothing for a bit. Took a nap as I was still tired. Got some good sleep early afternoon.

At 4:20 we headed back over to Marion to pick up the dogs. On the way the Detention Center called and asked if I could do a transport this evening. I told them I could be there a little after 5:30.

We got to the Vet Clinic and picked up two sweet smelling dogs. They sure look different without their fur coats on. Both dogs sacked out on the ride home. Evidently a spa day is exhausting!

Dropped Kathy and the dogs off and grabbed some snacks and a couple bottles of water and headed over to the Detention Center. I picked up a 21 year old young man that had come to the US three years ago. He entered using the proper channels and claimed political asylum. For some reason unknown to me, he was in Chicago and got picked up 60 days ago. He said they wouldn’t let him show them his papers. All of a sudden he was in handcuffs and taken in.

He lives in Sacramento, CA and needed to get to the Wichita, KS bus station. He has an immigration hearing Monday in Sacramento. Evidently, his attorney had bailed him out.

He didn’t speak a lot of English but we managed to have some conversation. He was a bit shelled shocked and traumatized I think. He seemed to relax a bit with each phone conversation he had with friends and family.

He was a bit amazed at the landscape and all the cows in the pastures. We joked about cows roaming free in the streets in India.

When we got to the bus station, I asked him if he had any cash with him. He did not. He was on the phone with his brother who spoke better English. His brother asked me if I could give him $100 cash. He then attempted to transfer $100 via Zella to me. I don’t have a Zella account and told him it was a gift from Love in Action.

I asked his brother to let me know when he gets to CA. I hope that he does so. Sometimes I don’t get to know the rest of the story. I trust his bus journey home is safe and the court hearing on Monday goes well.

I saw four deer on the way home. Luckily none of them jumped out in front of me.

Grateful I was available and able to transport this young man this evening. I learned I need to stock my car with some chargers for phones. The one I have didn’t fit his phone. It would have been nice if I could have sent one with him for his journey home. I will have to educate myself on all the different phone chargers and get some in my car.

Going to Wichita tonight was not on my Bingo card for the day. Grateful another ICE Detainee was set free and I could help him get his journey home started.

I never know what curves are ahead for me. I now know why I was prompted by spirit to stop at an ATM and get extra cash last week. I also was prompted to take a nap today. Someone, somewhere is looking after me.

Grateful the dogs are fresh and clean and ready for hot weather, grateful I was able to be in service today, and grateful for lots of miles safely traveled today.
