Another night where sleep was elusive. I gave up and got up around 6:30.
I went to town this morning. I needed 100 small plates for the donut event on Friday. I also needed a dozen donuts for the diabetics. I found four at Walmart and found eight more at Nature’s Paradise. They are different brands but I think they will work. I am grateful I have them in the house. I didn’t know if I could find them Friday and I didn’t want to cut it that close.
Came home and took a long nap. Finally feel a bit rested but not completely. I am grateful I get to take naps when I need them.
Haven’t done much else today. Got a couple thank you notes written and mailed.
Tomorrow Kathy and I are taking Roxy to the Vet. She has a sore on her tummy that is looking nasty. It has been there for a bit. It kept getting better and then would look nasty again. She has another lump on her tummy too. They checked one before and it is some sort of fatty tumor that is benign. Not sure what they can do for this one but we shall see.
If I don’t hear from the Center by Thursday about the Go Bag project, I will bug them. If we are going to do it, I would like to get started. I saw a grant opportunity that might apply and the deadline is September 15. Would be nice to get some extra funds if the project is a go. Many years ago I wrote a grant for a Girl Scout project and also one for the Emporia Public School Foundation. Both were successful so have some history with grant writing.
I sure don’t like this last blast of summer heat we are having. Doesn’t look like much relief in sight when I look at the ten-day forecast. With the wind we have had we are getting mighty dry.
I am starting to feel a bit isolated from my friends. I know a couple have some things going on but haven’t heard an update lately. I need to reach out and find out the news. I miss us meeting regularly but still don’t have it in me yet to organize it.
I keep feeling things are about to crack wide open and maybe not in an easy way. Not necessarily personal things, more on the world level. I kept hoping more would wake up and understand their own role in all of this and help tip things in a different way. I still think that has happened but the chaos is still overwhelming the world. We must still need some hard things to happen before people can wake up.
I also feel like I need to draw inward during this time. There is absolutely nothing I can do to help wake someone else up. I do need to make sure I stay centered and grounded and I do that best when I am somewhat isolated.
Somewhere in all this is balance and moderation. Neither of those have even come easy for me. Maybe this is another chance for that to happen.
Grateful I found the diabetic donuts, grateful I like being alone, and grateful life continues to teach me deep lessons.
