What a beautiful fall day out today. I could live somewhere where it is like this all the time. Perfect light sweater weather.
Kathy and I went to Hartford this afternoon to go to a Celebration of Life gathering from a guy that we grew up with. He was several years older than we are but his sister was a year older than me and a year younger than Kathy. We attended the same church and did a lot of things as families together.
It was like attending old home week. Several people from our childhood were there. We got to talk to a few of them and then we came home. We didn’t stay long but it was nice to see those that we were able to see.
We stopped at Walmart on the way home so I could get a few things for tomorrow. Came home after that to watch the Chiefs football game.
Had trouble finding the right channel. Man, it is not easy these days to find what you want to watch. We finally found it and then something happened to my TV and it paused. Could not figure out how to unpause it and I gave up and turned the damn thing off. I don’t watch TV much and find it more and more confusing to find what I want to watch. Not worth it! Damn, I am getting old and cranky.
Kathy has it on so she keeps me updated. I am a very casual football fan and even when it is on I really don’t watch it closely.
Tomorrow is the first work day for the Go Bags. I went out to the shed and brought in a table. I am going to set up two work tables tomorrow and hope for the best. I think there are six people coming plus Kathy and I. We have lots of things to cut tags off of and take out of plastic bags. Have no idea how long it will take – guess it will take as long as it does.
Haven’t gotten the house cleaned yet but it is hard to clean with all the totes sitting around. I will wipe down the bathrooms in the morning and call it good.
Tuesday I am working a short shift at the book sale. I will go to town a bit early so I can buy a bag or two of books. Wednesday is the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new piece of exercise equipment at the Detention Center. Thursday and Friday and two more work days. Geez, it will be a busy week.
Got an email from the original company I ordered no strings Hoodies from. The last email from them told me my items were out of stock and they didn’t know when they would be back in stock. They said they would cancel the order on the date that I was to receive them which is mid November. The email I got today said they shipped 10 of the 100 items I had ordered. Geez, now what? Will they cancel the other 90 when I receive these? It will all resolve sooner or later but am sure grateful I found another company to deal with and won’t have to deal with this company after this all gets cleared up.
The sweat pants and hoodies/sweat shirts have taken more of my time and energy than anything else in the Go Bag. Not sure why that was the case. Grateful I found a reliable supplier and can reorder what I need and it will arrive within less than a week and at a cost I can afford.
Glad it is time to get started on the Go Bags. It feels like I have been consumed with this process for months. It really hasn’t been but it feels that way. It will be fun to meet all the people that are coming that I have never met. And it will be nice to see some friends that are coming that I haven’t seen for a long time.
Grateful for childhood memories and friends, grateful the work days are here, and grateful for a calendar to keep me where I need to be this week.
