This has been a quiet, stay at home type of day. I only went outside once and that was to unload the dog food and cases of water that was in my car that I had gotten several days ago. Grateful that project is taken care of. Our new back door is handy for that job as I can pull my car up close and not have to use the steps to get in the back room.
I mopped the kitchen floor on my hands and knees. It had been a hot minute since I had done that job. I found lots of dirt! Yuck! Realized I need to replace the kitchen mat that is below the kitchen sink. It has more than served its useful life. I found one on Amazon and got it ordered before I forget.
Wrote some more thank you notes and sent a couple needed texts and emails. I am getting closer to being ready to leave Tuesday.
Tomorrow I need to go to Emporia and get a haircut. I am going to have lunch with Jason and maybe Michelle. I don’t think I need to stop and get anything for the trip. Although something might surface between now and then. I need to remember to go by the post office and get Love in Action mail as well as deposit a check at the bank.
I do need to take care of a couple of Pen Pals and an insurance issue with Love in Action tomorrow. I sent some emails to see if people are still interested in being a Pen Pal and I haven’t heard back from them. I will try a couple more people tomorrow and see if I can find some people to handle two Pen PALs.
I still need to type up a list of phone numbers for Kathy. I like leaving the electric company, gas company, water department, internet, and Hulu information for her just in case. I also need to leave some passwords with her in case Netflix and Hulu decide to require her to sign back in again. She watches a lot of TV and I don’t want her not to have that available.
Tomorrow I will do another load of laundry and then pack. I am anxious to see if my new suitcase is about the same size as my other one. I have had the other carry on bag since my walk on the Camino in 2015. The old has gone lots of miles with me but the wheels have lost their rubber and it is hard to push and pull. I hope I remember what I am looking for if my bag has to be gate checked.
It has been nice to have another quiet day at home. I feel myself slowing down and finding all parts of me. It feels like it has been a while since I was able to do that. When I get consumed with a project, it is easy for me to not allow myself to stop and breathe.
My website buddy got the changes made to the website. I need to type up a list of some small changes I want made but that can wait till I get back. He put on a temporary notice that the Go Bags aren’t available until December 1. When he takes that down he can make the other small changes.
I am working on releasing all of Love in Action while I am on vacation. I need a break from it so I can come back with renewed energy and motivation. I am so grateful we have a plan in place to make the next set of Go Bags come together in an easier fashion for me.
One more day and then I leave on my grand adventure. It is probably a good thing I won’t be around to hear the election results as they come in. I’m not sure my nervous system can take it. I truly hope change is in the air. Although I know that even if the Democrats take the House and Senate the real type of change that needs to happen won’t. We need to rebuild our systems from the ground up and make them work for all the people – not just the rich. That type of systemic change isn’t on the horizon yet.
Grateful for a quiet day at home, grateful for a clean kitchen floor, and grateful it is only two more sleeps before the adventure begins.
