It has been a long day. I woke up later than I wanted to. I quickly took a shower, got dressed and loaded up the beef from my freezer to take to Nicole.
I headed to KC at 11:00 and met Nicole and Geoff for lunch at a Chipotle that is close to their house. We had a nice lunch and then went to their house to unload the beef.
I stayed and visited a bit more with them and then around 2:15 headed south. I went to a memorial service for the daughter of a good friend. The service was beautiful. The preacher was outstanding. I gave my friends a long hug, visited with another friend that was there for a short bit, and then headed for the hills.
I got home around 5:30 so it was a quick trip up and back. Traffic was light and I didn’t get slowed down either way very often.
I sure could take a nap about now. I may try to stay awake and go to bed early. I may fall asleep in my chair. We shall see what happens!
A donor gave a generous donation to the pizza fundraiser today. I love that we are still attracting new donors. I wish I had their home address so I could send a proper thank you note. Unfortunately I am lucky to get email addresses. Some of the platforms don’t even provide that.
Tomorrow I have a haircut at 11:00. Ellexia and I might go have pedicures after that and then meet Jason for lunch. She wasn’t sure if she was free or not. Her school starts Wednesday so my weekly lunches with her is about over. Jason isn’t free until 12:30 so I may go have a pedicure alone if Ellexia can’t join me.
I have some stamps I need to take up to the Detention Center tomorrow on my way out of town for my haircut. It was nice to have a big pile of donated stamps on hand and not have to write a check to buy some at the post office.
After tomorrow my calendar is free for the rest of the week. It will be good to have some down time. I feel like I am behind but not sure what I am behind on. I need to clean my desk up and see what is hiding in plain sight that I need to take care of.
Attending the service of a 45 year-old puts life in perspective. She left behind her 14 and 20 year old daughters. If that doesn’t make one feel grateful for the life they have had, I don’t know what would. My oldest daughter is 45 and her kids are 16 and 20 years old. There, but for the grace of God, go I.
Grateful for time with Nicole and Geoff today, Grateful for hugs from dear friends, and grateful for a safe trip to and from KC.
