Kathy and I both agreed that today felt weird. Not sure how but the energy today is weird. We both had trouble settling and we were both restless. We might or might not ever know what is up.
I went to Emporia late morning to pick up a prescription. I also found gluten-free cupcakes so picked those up. They were frozen so I kept them frozen and will thaw them the day before the party.
Found out the Center needs to pass the cupcakes out on Friday instead of Saturday and they need them Friday morning. I went to North Reebles (or whatever that store is called now) to change the pickup time. The lady that helped me said it wasn’t a problem to change. I am grateful.
Stopped and had lunch and then came home. Town felt busy to me today and I was glad to get home.
Still need to figure out something for the diabetic Detainees. I found some sugar free cookies but not sure they are much better for the Detainees than a regular cupcake. I looked on-line and didn’t find anything. Maybe an apple? That doesn’t seem like a good exchange though although if the Detainees don’t get fresh fruit it might be. I will give it some more thought and decide what to do.
Found out I can provide a Coke and popcorn for July 19. That is the day of the finals for the World Cup. The lady that handles these things for me told me I could bring in pre-popped popcorn and brown bags to put it in and she would dish it out. Have no idea how much popcorn I would need to make 150 plus servings. Think I will order the single serving bags of popcorn that is already popped. Costco carries several types and I bet Walmart does too. I will worry about that after the party on Saturday.
I think what the Detainees would rather have is pizza again but that is a bit over my budget. Pizza costs $1,500 for all to have a couple slices and I can do the pop and popcorn for under $400. I will attempt to raise enough funds again at Thanksgiving time so we can do pizza again then.
Pulled out some more items that are on my list that I will need for the party Saturday. I like to have everything ready a couple days ahead of time and then can double and triple check that I have everything. Friday I will go to Emporia and pick up the cake and cupcakes. Saturday I will need to buy ice and then haul everything up there and set up the room. The food is to be delivered by 11:30 so we will be ready to eat at noon.
If this event is like the Singing our Resistance event, people won’t show up until 12:15 or so. Not sure why that happens but that seems to be the norm around here. I think I will have everyone get a plate and then give my talk while they are eating so we can have more time for music from Elexa. After she finishes up we will serve the cake and ice cream. I guess I should have left the ending time open so we could extend things if we decide to.
No plans for tomorrow. Wednesday I am meeting Jason for lunch to celebrate his birthday. I didn’t get my phone calls made to see if I could get copies of the CT scan and MRI. I couldn’t make myself do that today. I will try again tomorrow.
I am so out of time. Yesterday felt like it was three days long and today feels like it should be noon right now instead of almost 7:00pm. Time doesn’t make sense to me right now.
Got a donation of 40 stamps in the mail today. That is always appreciated. I love that people that have never donated before are stepping up and doing so. I wonder sometimes how I keep the program relevant and interesting so we attract new donors as well as keep our previous donors engaged.
Grateful to have found gluten-free cupcakes today, grateful we get to do a World Cup event for the Detainees, and grateful for new donors to Love in Action.
