I left for my doctor’s appointment around noon. Got there early but they called me back early. The nurse did my vitals and then I waited for almost 30 minutes.
The PA I saw seemed to know her stuff. I didn’t get a diagnosis though, just more pills to treat symptoms. Because the two things I complained about only happen sporadically, I guess it is hard to diagnose? One of them creates a quality of life issue and the other I can proceed as normal but can’t eat or drink for 8 – 10 hours. We shall see if the medication helps. If not, I will push for something else.
We did have a nice conversation about traveling. She had gone to New Zealand and Italy and we talked about that. She was a bit loud but easy to talk to.
After I left I went to Chipotle and had lunch and then went to Costco. Costco didn’t have one of the items I went for but I managed to find other things I didn’t know I needed. Came home after that. It was an easy trip to and from although the Turnpike has about four construction zones to go through.
I filled up with gas at Costco but I should have filled up in Emporia. I would have saved $0.20 a gallon. Not sure why but Emporia always seems to have the cheapest gas around.
I noticed Costco now carries Coke in plastic bottles at a much cheaper price than I can get them at Walmart. If we do a bottle of Coke again for the Detainees, it might be worth a drive to Wichita to buy them there.
Took a nap when I got home as I felt exhausted. I may not sleep tonight but even without a nap I may not sleep. I take sleep whenever it finds me.
Tomorrow I have to go to Emporia and pick up the prescriptions. Am going to have lunch with Michelle. She has something she needs me to do for her and since I have to go to town we might as well make a lunch out of it. Costco had the treat I always buy for my hairdresser as a Christmas present so I will take that to him while I am in town since he won’t be cutting hair at Christmas time.
I might stop and get a few groceries. I can’t think of too many things I need so may not bother with the couple things I need. By the end of the week, I might need an excuse to get out of the house as I have nothing on my calendar for the next ten days or so.
It was a bit frustrating at the doctor’s office. I had anticipated that they wouldn’t be able to tell me what was wrong and have a definite plan of treatment. My body didn’t read the rule book and tends to present in weird ways that stump the docs. I’m not always sure more pills solve anything, especially when they don’t know what is wrong. Sure, it might make me feel better for a moment but does it really fix the real problem?
Maybe I need to be grateful there is nothing seriously wrong, just some very challenging and annoying symptoms. I will work to get to that space. Accept what is! Is that my new mantra?
Grateful for a safe trip to and from Wichita, grateful for a nap today, and grateful I get to have lunch with Michelle tomorrow.
