Kathy and I headed for her appointment at the Memory Care Clinic of KU at 10:20. We stopped at the Pome on the Range but was disappointed to find they are not open. I wonder if they will open this season? It didn’t look like they are going to.
We got to her appointment and got checked in. The nurse called us back before 12:30. She checked us in and then the doctor came in shortly after the nurse was done.
He is a strange dude but we had fun with him. I won’t share Kathy’s results as that is her story to tell. The funny parts were when he asked Kathy who the current president was. Her response was the turd and then was able to come up with Trump.
Found out the doctor is a Democrat so we had a fun discussion about that. I shared about Love in Action and he encouraged me to keep trying to change people’s hearts and minds and he would do the same.
At one point Kathy told the doctor that I repeated myself on the way up here. I told the doctor I passed my memory test at my physical and he said well you don’t have Alzheimer’s yet! He said it is hereditary. Geez thanks guy!
He made a few recommendations that he wants me to start doing for her. He is adjusting some of her medication. Overall, it was a good appointment. She will see his PA in six months and then the doctor again in a year.
We stopped at Chipotle and had lunch and then went to Emporia to pick up Roxy. The Vet Clinic was very busy so had a bit of a wait to get her. They didn’t charge me for the overnight stay. We got Roxy and her meds and came home.
When we got home Roxy was so anxious to get out of the car that she tried to crawl into the front seat to follow Kathy out of the car. She got stuck. We had to adjust the seats and help lift her up so she could get out of the car. I about peed my pants laughing at her.
Sophia was glad to see her mama. Roxy is to stay inside until her stitches come out in two weeks. Don’t think that will happen as Roxy does not always like to stay inside. We shall see how this goes.
Someone from a group contacted me about doing a sock drive at their meetings that are coming up. That will be a budget saver if they can come up with 100 pairs of socks. Hoping other groups will step forward for the T-shirts, underwear and sports bras. They could even do the sweat pants and hoodies if they can follow the no draw strings rule.
Am grateful I have the next two days at home. I am tired tonight. Traffic was heavy coming home. I told Kathy I was tired of seeing car asses. I didn’t have many clear stretches the whole way home. Grateful we had a safe trip to and from.
No plans for the weekend. I have some things I could work on for Love in Action but I need to put things down for a bit and give myself a break. I have to go to Topeka Monday for a doctor’s appointment and will pick up Love in Action again next Tuesday.
The rest of next week is empty space which I need. It has felt busy again to me and I do best when things are a bit slower. We have had some family drama going on this week that drained me. Hoping that all will settle down soon too.
Next week I need to get some things organized for the Go Bags. I have lots of ideas and feel a bit scattered. Need to make some decisions and firm up some proposals. It will all fall into place. I have over two months before I committed to passing out the bags. I will be gone for 16 days of that but I should have everything in place long before my trip.
The Doctor made our over hour long visit fun today. He had a sense of humor and played a bit with us. He was matter of fact and direct which I like. He had a solution for one of our problems which I also appreciated. We shall see how things shake out from here.
Grateful for a positive doctor appointment today, grateful for a sock drive that is being organized and grateful I get to stay home for two days.
