I am sitting on an airplane just outside Chicago. We got a late takeoff and are headed into strong head winds that will make our arrival in Munich delayed. We only had a two-hour layover in Munich so it will be a run for the hills type of layover to make our flight from Munich to Warsaw. Maybe there are enough on this flight that they will hold the flight for us.
Had trouble finding sleep last night. Was going over in my head what I had packed and tried to remember what I might have forgotten. I kept reminding myself that we are not going to a third world country and the places we are going will have whatever I might need.
Left my house at 8:25 this morning and went to Nicole’s house. Had some heavy rain in places on the drive up. The clouds were beautiful to watch and luckily it didn’t rain all the time.
Nicole’s husband Geoff drove us to the airport. We walked right in through the security lines. No wait at all. The workers all seemed to be in a good mood which set the trip off on the right foot. The guy that checked my ID said he had a problem – when I questioned what he said my ID was wrong as there was no way I was that old!
After our very short security lines we had lunch and then went to our gate. We decided I would ask if I could use the pre boarding privilege. They told us they accept any who ask. It was nice not to have to rush to get on the plane and we were able to take our time and have lots of room for our carry-on bags.
We had a three hour layover in Chicago. Got on this plane at 5:00 and didn’t take off until 6:45. Long time sitting for the plane to move before an eight almost nine hour flight.
I am attempting to get liability insurance for Love in Action for our new storage space. The insurance lady sent me an email asking all sorts of questions about Love in Action and wanted me to type out a response. Since I had time I called her and we talked through the answers. Much easier than answering via typing. She is going to work on the application and said she would probably have more questions but the rest of them should be easy to answer via email. I haven’t heard from the other agent yet but he told me it would be a couple of days.
We land in Warsaw sometime their time tomorrow afternoon. We should be able to get checked into our rooms when we get to the hotel. We have our first tour group meeting at dinner tomorrow night. Hoping I can catch some sleep on the flight. Sometimes I can and sometimes I can’t. I think the time difference will be seven hours but not sure. The bed will feel mighty nice tomorrow night though.
I can’t keep the agenda in my head as to what we will be doing and going. There is something about names of places that don’t stick with me. I’m glad I have an agenda packed away that I can look at each day that will give me a bit of a clue where I am going and what I will be seeing. History and geography just aren’t my thing.
Wherever we go and whatever we do, it will be an adventure!
Grateful for this time with Nicole, grateful for the magic that happens when you fly to an international destination, and grateful I can manage without a lot of sleep.
