Got a private message on Facebook yesterday asking me if I used to be a foster parent. Turns out my second foster child was adopted by this lady. Wow! That was way back in 1989. I had the daughter for six weeks. I had picked her up at the hospital when she was two days old. I remember meeting the adoptive parents but we only spent about thirty minutes with them. She is going to send me a picture she took that day and a current one of her daughter.
That stirred up lots of memories for me. I originally went into foster care to take care of infants that were waiting adoption. We had two infants and then the agency we were fostering through stopped that program. We than began fostering older children. I loved taking care of the infants.
Had a nonproductive day today. Did some knitting this morning but was lazy and didn’t do any cleaning. After lunch decided to take a nap and slept for almost three hours. Must have been more tired than I realized. Trusting I will eventually sleep tonight. We have to get up by 8:30 so we can go to 9:30 church tomorrow.
Fixed a new crock pot recipe for dinner. It had boneless chicken thighs, green salsa, and spices in it. Served it over rice. It was good. I was afraid it was going to be too spicy but it had lots of flavor but wasn’t hot spicy. I’ll fix it again sometime but not sure I would want to eat it everyday.
My foot is feeling better tonight. It woke me up a couple of times last night but has been quiet today. Hopefully it has gotten over the fit it was throwing for being manipulated in therapy Thursday. Hopefully Monday the therapist will be a bit gentler with it.
So looking forward to Tuesday and getting permission to quit wearing the boot. It is time to retire permanently my boot. I keep thinking about walking pain free come spring time.
Tomorrow we have church in the morning and again in the evening. They are having a chili feed and than a Christmas carol sing that Jim leads. I love Christmas music so should be a good time.
Grateful for Facebook and the new connection that was made, grateful for Saturday afternoon naps, and grateful a new recipe turned out great.
