This has been another whirl wind day. I left the house around 11:00 this morning. I stopped at the bank and deposited some checks and cash.

Stopped and filled my car up with gas when I got to Emporia and then I drove to KC and stopped at Costco. We had run out of candy yesterday and I needed a couple more bags to finish up the Detainee’s Trick or treat bags.

After a quick stop at Costco, I went to Nicole’s house. Nicole and I went to Chili’s for lunch. Service was efficient and the food came out quickly.

It is always a good day when I get to spend some time with one of my kids. We had a nice visit during lunch.

I went to the Memorial Service for a high school classmate. It was like a trip down memory lane to watch the slide show the family put together when they showed the “old” pictures. There was one of Ginny at our High School graduation and one with her two brothers that was taken when Ginny was in Jr. High.

I got to hug her brother Bill and then afterwards I saw one of Kathy’s classmates and got to hug her. Kathy’s classmates two older sisters were there as well. I also got to talk to Ginny’s older sister Jo for a minute after the service.

The trip home afterwards was full of memories for me and the miles flew by – kinda like the years have flown by. I was home before I knew it!

Have worked on finishing up the Trick or Treat bags. I only need to do about 20 more and that project will be complete. I don’t have to have them at the Center until Friday but I might take them up tomorrow just to get three more boxes of stuff out of the house. I am running out of places to stash things.

I haven’t looked at the laundry that was done today by a work team. From the reports I got they had a productive day and it went well. I so appreciate the two that stepped up to lead the charge today and carry on in my absence. They had three helpers and were done by 4:00.

Tomorrow is a free day – at last. Feels like I haven’t had one of those for a bit. I will be busy getting things ready to pack the Go Bags on Wednesday. Still not sure how I am going to set it all up but have a plan in my head. I’m sure I will be on plan F before the day is over.

I put up a request for some helpers on Thursday. I need to get a count of all the leftovers so I know where we stand on supplies. There is the possibility of needing to put together another 100 bags quickly in December and it will be easier to get a count now. I want to combine totes as much as possible because I need at least 10 empty ones to put the completed Go Bags in. I know I will have five from the blankets alone so I think it will be possible. We have a lot of leftovers though which is a good thing.

Man it will be nice when Thursday is over and most of the totes are out of the house and the 100 Go Bags are filled and ready to start handing out when I get home from vacation. This project has consumed me this month.

Had some tummy issues today for a bit. I’m glad they waited to hit until I got to KC. There aren’t a lot of bathrooms on the highway. It finally calmed down. I think I need to try taking one of the new pills a day even if I don’t think I need it. Maybe that would stop them from happening instead of me reacting when they do.

I am very behind on thank you notes and responding to Facebook comments. I have had over 25 people now volunteer to accept boxes of supplies and they will wash them up and deliver them to our new storage place. I need to respond to each of them and make sure I have the information I need from them so I can make that happen. We won’t need that many people each time we do the Go Bags but this way no one will get burned out doing it every month.

Feeling a bit like not all of me got home today. I am not grounded and am feeling very scattered. I’m grateful tomorrow is a quiet day and I can go slow and easy and get ready for Wednesday.

Grateful for a safe trip to and from KC, grateful to see old friends, and grateful for the love and life of Ginny.
