We got as much of the floor done that we could do using the power nailer. The rest will have to be done using finishing nails. We returned the power nailer and air compressor. Stopped by Lowe’s to pick up some more wood.

Jim has been working on finishing the floor since we have been back from the hardware store. The floor has gone much faster using new wood. We did find that the pieces were not a consistent size. Once we figured that out and used the same sized pieces in a row the project moved along much faster. The inconsistency in the size of the pieces really made what should have been a simple project a real challenge.

Before Jim left to pick up Thomas he got the washer and dryer moved back into place and hooked up. Still have about 12 more boards to lay and the floor will be laid.

We took the sander back without using it. We decided to finish the back room floor and than remove the linoleum from the kitchen floor and get that floor cleaned up and than we can rent the sander again. Ran out of time to get all that done this weekend as the floor took much longer than expected.

Jim’s son got in from CA last night. The other one is flying into Oklahoma City from Washington, DC this afternoon. Jim will leave in a bit to go pick him up. Both sons and a girlfriend are coming over for dinner later tonight.

While Jim is picking up Thomas I will get the house cleaned up. I haven’t finished my detailed cleaning project yet but it looks much better now than when I started. I also want to dip some pretzels in white almond bark.

I fixed a pot of vegetarian spaghetti sauce for dinner tonight. I have a spaghetti squash to roast later and will fix traditional spaghetti noodles too. I also have the stuff to fix a big green salad and garlic bread. It will be fun to see the sons again and meet the new girlfriend.

I finished my Christmas shopping today. I had two last gifts I wanted to pick up for Jim. I got one when we went to Lowe’s for the additional wood planks and stopped and got the last one while I was out going to the grocery store. Traffic is really heavy in Stillwater today. Glad I found what I was looking for and my shopping is now complete. I might get some things wrapped while Jim is gone this evening too.

Tomorrow we don’t have plans except to go to church tomorrow evening. Jim has to be there at 10:00 for choir practice and the service is at 11:00 pm. I’m looking forward to going to Christmas Eve services.

Wednesday the sons and girlfriend will come over mid afternoon and we will have dinner together. They need to decide tonight what they want to eat so I have time to go to the grocery store tomorrow to get what we need. Jim is more of a last minute planner than I am. Makes me nervous to wait this long to get groceries.

Jim just called. He has been stuck on the turnpike for 30 minutes and hasn’t moved. Lots of ambulances and rescue trucks ahead. He is going to be late picking up Thomas and dinner may be at 10:00 tonight. Good thing it is spaghetti and it can wait. Frustrating for us yet sad for those that are injured and hurt.

That will give me more time to get some cleaning done. May get the pretzels dipped and a few presents wrapped too.

Still can’t wrap my head around the fact that Christmas is Wednesday. It was in the 60’s here today – felt more like spring than Christmas. I’ll be glad when Christmas is over. It is not my most favorite time of the year.

Grateful the floor is almost done, grateful my shopping is done, and grateful both sons will be here later tonight.
