Taking a break from writing thank you notes by hand. I haven’t written this much for a long time – I have 24 done and five to go. I think I can, I think I can!

This has been a quiet day at home. I didn’t leave the house. I needed a day like this. Am working on the pile of paperwork on my desk and attempting to get it all cleared up. I was way behind on thank you notes and that was my main goal of the day. Almost done!

My website designer came over and we talked about what changes need to happen to the website. I am trusting that he will be able to get them done on a timely matter. I have to have the request for the Go Bags on the website in a timely matter so that project can fly. We shall see if he comes through.

I got the month end report almost done. Just need to add final financial numbers to it. I did some work on that earlier so it won’t take me long to add that information. I hope my numbers add up – some months they do and other months not so much.

Nicole and I talked on the phone today. I need to be at her place a little after 10:00 next Tuesday so we can head to the airport by 10:30 and start this grand adventure. I will get this paperwork done and then I can turn my focus and attention to packing for the trip. I haven’t had time to get excited about it yet.

Tomorrow I need to get some cleaning done. I realized after the house got emptied out yesterday how dirty it is. I can’t leave all of that to Kathy to work on. I always like to clean house before I leave on vacation so I come home to a clean house. I will need to do laundry tomorrow and wash my sheets. Love climbing into bed when the sheets are freshly laundered.

Have a couple of new Pen Pals that I need to assign before I leave. One of them is in a stuck victim place. I may keep him for a bit to see if I can help him get out of the head space he is in. He has had a double trauma happen to him and I can’t imagine how hard it is for him right now. However, he is struggling and is making the situation worse for himself. Can’t say that I blame him but hoping I can help him find a moment of relief.

I have three more full days to get all my stuff done and get into the headspace of travel. What a month October has been for me. I think I existed on mainly adrenaline the whole month with the seven work days. What a relief that the first step of the Go Bag project is in the bag. Once I finish up the thank you notes, I can let that project rest until I get home mid November.

I need to remember to take a deposit to the bank tomorrow. We had some left over quarters I need to deposit as well as someone gave me a cash donation yesterday.

I haven’t started making a list for the trip. I need to start capturing my thoughts about it as they happen along with the rest of the little things I need to do before I leave town. I did sign up for international phone service so I will be able to stay in touch via text, calls and emails while I am gone. Guess if I forget something I can always reach out for help.

Can’t believe it is the end of October already. This month has flown by with all the focus on the Go Bags. It will be interesting to see what December brings.

I haven’t given a thought to Thanksgiving yet. Usually by this time I have my list done and most of the groceries in the house. Think I will put off any thoughts about it until after my trip. Not sure what I want to do this year yet. I will probably cook but at this moment that doesn’t sound fun. Maybe it will feel differently when I get home from vacation.

Daylight savings time ends Saturday night. It will be weird for a bit having it get so dark so early. I sure wish we would pick a time zone and leave it the same all year. It is hard on my body when we change times.

Still sitting with a full heart from all the people that showed up to help with the Go Bags project. As I wrote out the thank you notes, I could picture the person and send them my deepest gratitude for their help. It was an amazing thing to see all the people show up with open hearts and willing hands and they all worked hard getting things done.

Grateful for a quiet day at home, grateful the thank you notes are almost done, and grateful for all the helpers this month.
