Had an early start to my day as I had to be in Emporia at 7:30 for physical therapy. My therapist pushed and pulled my big toe and rubbed and stretched my foot. The extension on the big toe has moved from 6 degrees to 13. You only need 10 to walk properly so am making good progress. I go back Monday for my last visit with him. If needed I go back to the Oklahoma physical therapy place on Thursday. I’ll find out Wednesday if I need to continue to go. Thinking I will need a couple more weeks of therapy.
Stopped and got a few groceries after therapy and than came home. My two guests were still here so got a last chance to visit with them for a bit before they left late morning. It was so good that they were able to come Wednesday night and we were able to have a good visit. We called a mutual friend that lives in Ecuador and had a group chat. Fun!
After my friends left Jim and I gathered all the sheets from the five beds that were used and started laundry. I had two loads of my clothes that needed washed too. Worked on and off all afternoon and put the four bedrooms that were used back into order.
Jim went into Emporia to get parts to fix a blocked faucet and a broken door sweep. While he was gone I took a short nap. I didn’t sleep well last night and had been up since 4:30. I woke up hard after my nap. Think I am running on empty right now. Have spent a quiet afternoon and evening working to refill myself to get ready for the family coming tomorrow.
I laid out all the pantry stuff for the food I am making for tomorrow. I wanted to make sure I have what I need to make everything. Haven’t found anything I have forgotten – yet! I broke the bread into small pieces for the dressing this afternoon. Not much else I can do ahead of time. Craig and his wife are bringing pies so I didn’t have to bake those this afternoon.
I will put the turkey in the oven around 8:00 tomorrow. Need to make a timeline for myself for the rest of the meal. We are eating at 4:00 tomorrow so need to figure out what to do when. We usually eat at 1:00 and I know the timeline for that. 4:00 just worked better for all the kids schedules. It is hard to find a time when two of the kids work shift work.
I’m glad we are doing Christmas tomorrow. It is my least favorite holiday and I will be glad it is over. Maybe I can enjoy the spirit of Christmas better this year knowing our Christmas is done.
We are in the last 21 days before Winter Solstice. It is always a hard time for me as the days continue to have less day light. After tomorrow is over I will take some time and practice good self care and get some extra rest and quiet time. I feel the remnants of old stuff inside that need love and care so they can break off and be released. That takes energy and intention and quiet for it to happen. It tends to make me feel a bit exhausted and weepy. Grateful we are getting Christmas out of the way so that won’t be a distraction for me.
Sunday the grandkids will be here all day which will be fun. Monday I need to start packing for my four months in Oklahoma. Need to make a feed run and load up on chicken, dog and cat food. I also need to clean the house so it is ready for the house sitter Wednesday. I may have a newsletter for Pioneer Bluffs to work on so am starting to run out of time to get done all I wanted to get done. It will be good to get to Oklahoma and slow things down again.
Grateful for my friends that came to visit, grateful for my physical therapist that is helping me to move naturally again, and grateful my family will be gathering tomorrow.
