I had a fun lunch today. Four of us went to Casa Roma and celebrate a birthday. I need to remember to book lunch dates more often. So fun to gather with like-minded women and visit and laugh.

I forgot to stop at Walmart to pick up my prescriptions while I was in town. I am still waiting on them to fill one more. Hoping they can do that tomorrow and then I will go to town and pick them up.

I wrote a post on fundraising on the Love in Action Facebook page today. Every time I write a bearing witness story, people want to know how to donate. I appreciate their response but they lose the bigger point. Somehow we all have to learn how to sit and bear witness without taking immediate action to fix it. Money won’t solve most of the stories I share. It might make the donor feel better for a hot minute but it really doesn’t solve the bigger problem. I attempted to remind my readers of that point. What I would hope would happen is that the readers of the bearing witness stories will sit with their feelings that the stories bring up for them and allow those feelings to propel the reader to have more compassion for others. Money can’t buy that!

One reader of my post immediately asked me to add to each of my posts the names of some other nonprofits to donate to. I am not going to do that as again that misses the whole point. Not sure how to say that though. I commented that she would be welcome to comment and list some. She responded that I need to make an invitation for that on each post. I didn’t respond and it is not going to happen.

Thank heavens others that commented understood what I was saying and agreed with it. I keep reminding myself not to let one person get me down.

A reporter from the Wichita Newspaper called me today. The mayor of Coldwater, KS had to self report to ICE and was transferred to Cottonwood Falls. The reporter has been reporting on the mayor and somehow found out about Love in Action. We had a nice conversation. He wants to do a story about Love in Action alone plus add some of our story to the story he is writing about the incarcerated mayor. We shall see what comes of it.

The Detention Center had some conversations via email about the piece of exercise equipment. I thought it had already been ordered but it has not been. Hoping they are getting closer to making that happen. Not sure what the delay is as I told them over a month ago we had the funds to pay our half. Trusting this will get resolved soon and the equipment will get ordered.

The dogs are struggling with their haircuts for some reason. Both yesterday and today they demanded Kathy let them come into the house. Not sure if it is the rocks in their pen that feel sharp and hard now that they don’t have their coats on or if it is the heat. At least they aren’t shedding all over when they lay on the rugs.

Other than going to Walmart to get my prescriptions I have no other plans this weekend or all of next week. I need to call a friend or two and schedule lunch. It does my soul good to have deep conversation with friends.

I still wonder where Love in Action is going and what will happen with it. It seems to be on a course that is being driven by a higher power than me. I am grateful for the guidance and nudges I am getting from the Universe to help steer this program. I have no goals for it and attempt to remain open to the twists and turns it makes.

Grateful for lunch with friends today, grateful for all the interest in Love in Action, and grateful for lots of empty space ahead.
