This has been a quiet, stay-at-home type of day. It has been sunny and cool outside today. Mother Nature is behaving herself today after all the storms yesterday.
I got the deviled eggs made for the lunch I am going to tomorrow. I was to bring a side dish – I trust they will serve as that. It will be good for me to get out and people. I haven’t done much of that lately.
Worked a couple hours on the Pen Pal Program. I think I finally have it organized and all the volunteers up to date on their status and what is happening. The application we go through to send emails is getting easier for me with repetition. I think all the Pen Pals have figured out how it works. I still have one more Pen Pal that needs to send their first letter and then all will have used the application.
Got another new request to be a Pen Pal today. This one is not an ICE Detainees but someone being held on drug charges. One of the volunteers agreed to work with him.
One of the Pen Pal recipients has been deported. We only had a brief exchange with him before he left. Have a feeling that may happen again. The ICE Detainees don’t get much notice when they are leaving and won’t be able to always tell us ahead of time. That can happen with the other Detainees too. Advanced planning doesn’t always happen!
I am hoping for more Pen Pal requests as I have volunteers waiting to get matched. I have no control over that end of it so will accept what ever comes in and be grateful for those that do sign up.
Tomorrow I have to be in Emporia at noon for the Long Table event. Not sure how many people have signed up for it so not sure what to expect. We have a chance for rain tomorrow so it might get moved inside.
No plans for next week at all. Lots of empty space right now. In this moment that feels comfortable and just what I need. There is something up in the greater world energy that makes me want to cocoon at home right now. Trusting it will calm down soon.
Grateful the deviled eggs are done and the eggs played nice and were easy to peel, grateful I get to stay home all day, and grateful I have an event to go to tomorrow.
