Went into Emporia around 12:30 today. First stop was to get my blood test to check my thyroid done. The results are back already and my level dropped from over 7 to a bit over 3. That is good news. MD Anderson wanted me to keep my level between 2 and 3 so I am just a bit high. The level can fluctuate greatly depending on time between pill and draw, what I have eaten for the day and how much activity I have done. I’ll take where it is any day.
I had been given a gift certificate to the local book store downtown over a year ago and finally remembered to go buy two new books and use them up. I got a book of poetry by Mary Oliver and Anne Lamott’s new book.
Got a new trash can from True Value. I really only needed a lid but they don’t just sell the lid. Wonder how long the tires on the trash can will last. That is what I wear out quickly from pulling it down my 1/4 mile driveway and back up again.
Went to Physical Therapy. He made one more appointment for me for next week but thinks that will be the last one. My foot is a bit sore tonight from the workout he gave it but not too much sorer than normal for it. He reminded me it will take up to six months before all the stiffness is gone. He cleared me to walk as much and for as long as my foot can handle.
Finished my time in Emporia by stopping at Walmart to pick up some groceries and a few other things. While I was there I was notified by Airbnb that two guests automatically booked a room for tonight. I quickly finished buying groceries and headed home to make sure the house was ready for them. Luckily I had deep cleaned the room they are in yesterday so knew that room was ready for them.
The guests arrived around 5:00. It is two women on a girls night out trip. I ended up putting them in two separate rooms as one doesn’t like to sleep on a twin bed. I should have charged them for the second room but didn’t. They dropped their bags off and went out to find dinner at The Grand Hotel. They came to star gaze but thinking they are going to be disappointed as it is to be cloudy all night. The forecast shows that by sunrise time the skies are to be clear and I invited them to come upstairs in the morning to watch the sunrise.
Tomorrow I have to leave the house by 5:40 to pick up Jason and take him to Topeka so he can have a medical procedure done. I told my guests the house was there’s and they are welcome to stay all day if they want to. I probably won’t be home until mid to late afternoon.
Friday Kathy and Jim are both arriving. I will need to get the guest rooms cleaned up and some laundry done and food fixed for the weekend. It will be nice to have Kathy home again and to see Jim again. Rain is in the forecast all weekend so not sure how much deck painting we will get done.
I haven’t gotten any rooms deep cleaned today but am hoping I will get the office and guest bedroom upstairs done yet tonight. I have got to keep at it so I can get this project done. I’m not even halfway done yet.
Nicole posted on Facebook so I am now allowed to say that she and Geoff are engaged. He had called me a week or so ago and asked permission to ask her. They had called me last Saturday to tell me he had asked her and she said yes. They are a wonderful couple together and I am so happy for both of them.
No eggs today from my slacker chickens. I am about to cut them off of their sunflower and oats treat I give them everyday. No eggs – no treats!
Grateful for good news on my thyroid blood test results, grateful for Airbnb guests, and grateful to be welcoming a new son into my family.
