Woke up feeling crummy this morning.  Went to the doctor – I have a UTI.  I normally would have given it a day or two to see if I could make it go away on my own but with the trip coming up Friday decided not to mess with it and went in.  Got a prescription. Hoping to get this stopped quick so I am going strong by Friday.  I got a bit dehydrated on the seven mile hike Monday which probably caused the UTI.

I talked to my doctor about my weight. He isn’t concerned yet.  He told me to come back in if my BMI gets below 19.0. It was 19.8 this morning so I’m still good!  That makes me feel better.  Someone had told me I am starting to look a bit gaunt.  I still have trouble seeing the weight loss in myself and don’t want to get myself into trouble by loosing too much.

While I was in town I picked up the two bags of dog food I needed to get.  A clerk helped me load them into my cart which I appreciated.  I struggled to get them out of the cart and into my car but I did it.

It is a cloudy day on the prairie today.  I noticed the trails at Tallgrass are closed today as they are burning.  So glad we were able to hike Monday and it was a beautiful day.  I could see the smoke as I was coming home.  I’m not used to fall burning.  More and more ranchers are experimenting with it as it kills different weeds than the spring burn does.

Started laying out clothes for my trip.  I need to try on some pants and make sure they still fit.  I will only take four outfits and then will wash them out at each hotel.  I don’t pay much attention to what I wear so I can wear the same thing several times on the trip and it won’t bother me.  The less I take the lighter my suitcase is to transfer around.

I think I have everything on my list so it won’t take me long to finish packing tomorrow.  Still need to call my banks so my debit and credit cards will work.  I got some cash while I was in town today.

Trusting I will be feeling better by tomorrow so I can start getting excited about the trip. Only have one more day at home to get things ready.  I can do it – I can do it!

Grateful for modern medicine when it is needed, grateful for airplanes that make it possible to travel to the other side of the world, and grateful for my little corner on the prairie to come back home to.

  1. Kay, Have you ever priced buying your heavy bags of animal food on Amazon? My stepson works for FedEx and he says pet food is like half of his deliveries!

  2. Oops, it’s not Amazon . . it’s Chewy.com that’s sending out all the pet food via FedEx!
