We spent a very quiet day at home. Slept in late. Stayed inside most of the day. It was cold and windy outside and spitted snow off and on. It was a good day to stay tucked inside and read and knit.
Got a phone call from the solar installation guy. The electric company made it out today and changed out the meter. That was fast! I went down and turned the solar panel system on. Tomorrow we should start generating some electricity. The solar company will monitor the system for several days and make sure it is working properly and than close out the installation process and bill me for the final half of payment. The system is connected via internet to their office so they can monitor it and get alerts if something isn’t working right. They will send me a link so I can also monitor it and see how much electricity I am using and sending on to the electric company.
The chickens gave me one egg today. I am only getting one egg about every other day. They stayed tucked inside the coop most of the day. They did come out when I went down to check their feed. I give them sunflower seeds or oats everyday and guess it was worth leaving the warmth of the coop for their treat.
Sophia and Bell have been hanging out together under the heat lamp in the garage. Roxy has been laying on a rug by the steps of the garage. Ellie has been inside most of the day. None of us are used to cold weather yet.
Tomorrow we are going to KC so Jim can sign some papers at our attorney’s office. We will have lunch in KC and stop at Costco for a few things and than come right back home. It is to be a sunny day tomorrow and a bit warmer than it was today.
I fixed bierrock for dinner tonight. Jim had never had them before but said I could fix them anytime again for him. He especially liked the cherry dessert ones I make.
I sure like my fireplace in the living room. I have had it on most all day today. It keeps the living room and kitchen nice and toasty warm. I keep the bedroom door closed as I prefer a cool bedroom at night.
I’m going to pick up some paint and we are going to paint the laundry room Friday. When I moved in I painted it but never pulled the washer and dryer out so I could paint behind them. The new washer I got is smaller than the old one and I can now see what wasn’t painted before. One of my winter projects is to repaint every wall inside so guess we will start with the laundry room. If I get the house rented I won’t get that project done before I leave the house but I will get started on it as I can. The weather has put a temporary stop to working on the deck. Trusting the weather will be nice when I have surgery Jim can get the steps sanded so we can get them painted before winter fully sets in.
Jim goes back to Stillwater Saturday and will return Tuesday after his last class. Surgery is next Wednesday and he will stay with me for six to eight weeks after that. We sill split our time between KS and OK. It will be good to have that continuous time with him.
Grateful for a quiet day at home with Jim, grateful for the beauty of the hills with a very light dusting of snow, and grateful the solar panels will start producing electricity when the sun comes out tomorrow.
