It has been a busy day so far on the prairie. I slept for my normal 3 hours then woke up around 1:00 this morning. Finally got back to sleep around 5:30. I sure didn’t want to get up when the alarm went off at 7:00 this morning.
Did chores and ate breakfast and headed to town. I had a haircut at 8:30 and then volunteered to help with the Friends of the Library Book Sale from 9:00 – noon. Came home with one more sack of books – this sack was only $5. They are having a very successful sale this year and we emptied a lot of boxes this morning.
I have guests coming sometime late afternoon to spend one night. Trusting they will leave fairly early in the morning so I can get to KC and help Nicole with her project. I know my guests are going to ride the bus at the Reserve at 11:00 tomorrow so maybe they will leave early for that.
My student guest didn’t come out last night and won’t be here tonight. She is planning on coming tomorrow night. I need to send her a message and let her know I may not be home until late.
Sent a note to my primary doctor and ask him to add checking my lipid levels and potassium to the blood draw I am having done for my thyroid antibody test Friday. He agreed to do so. I have been having lots of leg and foot cramps the last several weeks. May need to decrease my blood pressure medication again as it is getting too low at times again. Yeah! I would like to go off the cholesterol medication too.
My hairdresser asked if I was OK health wise today. He could really tell I had lost more weight. We had a discussion about weight and how we view our bodies. I alway feel like I have had a counseling session when I get my hair cut. I suggested possibly changing my hair style and he talked me into keeping it the same. He knows I do not like to mess with my hair and the way I wear it is about as easy as one can go.
Need to take the recycling stuff into Cottonwood Falls and dump them. It is so nice out today I am looking for things to do outside. I carried several sacks of books for customers while I was working the sale just so I could get outside for a minute. Wish it was dry enough to mow today but I still see some standing water.
Dumped a couple of boxes of old business records in the trash bin before I hauled it down to the end of the driveway last night. Since I have been the only one here I didn’t have much trash so took advantage and got rid of a couple of boxes and filled the trash bin. Some weeks I don’t have enough room to do that.
Sure want to take a nap this afternoon. Am going to do my best to stay up though so maybe I can sleep tonight. Going to and from KC in one day always wears me out. Good news is I have nothing on my calendar for Friday other than flipping the guest room as I have a guest coming in Friday night. He won’t arrive until almost midnight so I will have all day Friday to get the room flipped.
Just remembered I have a newsletter to fold and stuff for Pioneer Bluffs to do Friday. I may get part of it done tonight and tomorrow morning before I leave for KC. I’ll see how fast I can go. It doesn’t have to be done until Monday so no real pressure to go fast. I will have to go into Emporia Friday morning for a fasting blood test. Guess I do have some things to do Friday!
Only got one egg from my girls yesterday. I gave them their first warning. Three warnings and I will seriously consider doing away with them. Their food is expensive if I don’t get anything in return. They are starting to molt and will probably not be laying much for the next 8 – 12 weeks. Must be sabbatical time for them. The slackers!
Just a little over two weeks before I leave for New Zealand and Australia. I did start my packing list last night. I need to arrange international cell service for the time I am gone too. Gotta keep up on my Match communications and the Airbnb reservations. Probably wishful thinking on both parts of that!
Felt good to be in service today. I really would like to find a non-profit that I could spend some good quality time with each week and feel like I make a difference by showing up. I enjoy volunteer work and want to add more of it to my schedule. I like short-term commitment projects better than every Monday for the rest of my life type of commitments.
Sitting in my peaceful valley today. Tired yet content. Feeling more grounded, centered and more confident again. I am getting clearer in my head what I am looking for on Match. I reworked my profile today and feel it captures me better than what I had before.
Grateful to have been in service today at the library, grateful for guests arriving this evening, and grateful for this beautiful fall day.
