A night of very little sleep last night. So frustrating. I thought I was really tired but I slept for one hour and was up for most of the night. I did get another hour of sleep around 6:00 but it only lasted an hour. Maybe tonight will be the night.
I did eat on schedule today. I wasn’t really hungry but am trying to remind my body it is on KS time now. My ankles aren’t as swollen today so I am on my way to recovery.
Went into Emporia around 11:00 and picked up my granddaughter. She came out to help me bake pies and break the bread for the dressing tomorrow. I fixed her blueberry pancakes while she scrambled herself some eggs. We got six pies baked and three loaves of French bread broken into pieces. She has been really good today and we have had fun. Her daddy is coming to get her later this evening.
She helped keep me awake this afternoon. I really wanted a nap but decided to try to get through without one to help increase the odds that I will sleep tonight. That plan may not work but it is worth a try.
I will put the turkey in the oven late tonight so it will be done in the morning when I get up. After it cools down a bit I will get it carved up and will warm it up before dinner. That frees my oven for all the other stuff I will be making. The house already smells divine from the pumpkin and pecan pies we baked.
Not sure how many people are coming for dinner. Probably only have around 20. I would prefer 35. Come on over if you don’t have a place to go. I will have plenty of food and would love to have a house full.
I haven’t gotten much housecleaning done yet. May get some done yet tonight after the little one goes home. I don’t want to go to bed at 7:00 so will need to keep myself busy.
I trust I have tomorrow under control. I have my list – checked it twice. It will be what it will be.
My Marine moved out today. There is a chance he will get to come back after the first of the year. He left some stuff here so he has to come back at least one more time for that. It is going to be so weird to have this big house to myself again.
I want to do a deep clean again and wash all the linens and hand clean all the floors. I don’t have any guests scheduled to come until December 26 so should have plenty of time to get to all the rooms. It would be nice to have a completely cleaned house by Christmas.
We enjoyed watching the sunset tonight and then watched the almost full moon rise in the east. What a beautiful day on the prairie this has been. We had a fun afternoon together.
Grateful I had a helper today to get started on dinner for tomorrow, grateful for the beautiful day on the prairie, and grateful for the time my Marine and his wife spent with me.
