Got up early and left Oklahoma by 9:00 this morning.  Went to Wichita for my surgeon follow-up appointment.  They took the dressing off and the steri-strips and clipped the end of the stitches.  They then wrapped my foot with the stretchy tape and put me in my boot.  The wound is healing well with no signs of infection.  The toe is nice and straight and there is no bunion bump.  I have three screws in my big toe – the same as my left foot.  Good to keep things in balance!

After we left the doctor we headed for Salina.  Ate lunch at Martinelli’s Little Italy.  It was as good as I remembered it to be.  We than went to the train track and waited to see the Big Boy come into town.  There were lots of other people standing around to watch it come in.  Jim got some good video of it.

We headed for the hills and got back to Strong City around 4:15.  Got the car unloaded and are enjoying a quiet evening at home.  I have some ham and beans in the instant pot cooking for dinner.

I am tired tonight.  Lots of sitting today and some pent up anxiety about my foot.  Glad to hear that it is healing well and everything looks good.  It is very stiff and the big toe doesn’t move much.  The lower part of my leg has some atrophy in it that will need to be rebuilt and strengthened.  It is amazing to me how fast you can lose muscle when you don’t move a body part.  Physical therapy starts tomorrow afternoon.

The guys finally made it out today to replace the screen on the south facing screen door.  It only took them three weeks to get here!  Glad that can be crossed off my to do list.

Snow is back in the forecast for Friday.  Might be a good day to make my peanut butter balls if we can’t be outside painting.  We will see how this plays out.

Tomorrow after physical therapy I need to go to the grocery store and get some groceries so we have stuff to eat for the next few days.  I also want to get most of my Thanksgiving groceries.   Jim has to go back to Stillwater Monday and will be back Wednesday afternoon.  I can’t drive yet so need to get my groceries while he is still here.  Even if I can get groceries I’m not sure how I would get them in the house as I am currently using two crutches.  That doesn’t give me a free hand to carry groceries in with.   I had forgotten how limiting crutches are.

Friday my new dishwasher is to be delivered.  It will be good to have another thing I can cross off my to-do list.

It is to warm back up this weekend so may spend the weekend outside painting.  Jim only has five more steps to sand and than I can get the rest of the steps and deck painted.  I won’t get all the black iron work downstairs painted as it requires ladder work but I will be happy if we can get the steps and landing done.

Grateful for a good report from the doctor today, grateful to have my dressing off, and grateful we got to see Big Boy today.
