It has been a productive day and it isn’t even 9:15. I called the Endocrinologist office in Topeka and got my prescription ordered. She didn’t increase my dose as they will want me to have very low levels for the ablation. Yuck! It may be a long eight weeks until that happens.
I had two other prescriptions I needed refilled too so got those ordered. I hate the automated phone systems. Always feels like a huge win to get through the system successfully.
The best news of the morning is I got enrolled in my health coverage for next year. I reduced my projected income since I am going on Medicare in August. That increased the subsidy I will get and the net effect is it lowers my monthly premium to a little over $150 a month. The best news is it also lowered my deductible which in this plan is the same as my out-of-pocket maximum for the year to $3,600. With this plan I won’t even have to pay any co-pay for doctor visits after I hit my deductible. I will hit my out-of-pocket maximum in January or February. The panel of thyroid tests that have already been ordered to be done in early February will almost hit my deductible alone.
The health care enrollment process was very smooth and easy. I was surprised I got into the system as I expected it to be full and slow. This has been the easiest year so far. I am grateful I don’t have to submit documents verifying the income drop. Looking forward to August though when I go on Medicare. Wonder if I have to meet deductibles again when that happens?
I checked to make sure the drugs I am currently taking are covered and they are. The current providers I am using are in-network too. I won’t have an HMO next year so if I decide I need a second opinion I can go out-of-state and have that done, as long as I find a provider in their network. The new plan will give me a raise for next year! Love when that happens!
I forgot yesterday I do have a Doctor’s appointment next week with the surgeon. I haven’t spoken to him since the day I had surgery so will be anxious to hear him tell me what he actually saw during surgery. He comes to Emporia so I don’t have to drive to Topeka to see him. I doubt I will have to go back to see him unless I will need further surgery for some reason.
I need to remember to call the lady that did my mammogram yesterday and give her the Mayo Clinic medical records fax number so she can get a copy of my last mammogram. It was done in 2008 so don’t know if they will still have the records or not.
Have some friends coming over this afternoon. That will make the day go by faster. Tomorrow I need to go into Emporia and pick up the prescriptions and some groceries. Saturday evening I am volunteering at the Pioneer Bluffs Party in the Barn event. I hope it isn’t too cold. May need to dig out my long underwear. I sure am feeling the cold right now.
Finished another shawl last night. Need to dig out some fancy yarn and make a hat and scarf. I’ll probably have to dig out my ball winder too. Sometimes that is an easy process but when it goes bad it goes really bad.
When I called the Endocrinologist this morning she scheduled a blood draw for December 15. Still not sure when we start talking about the ablation process but guess it will happen when it is supposed to. I don’t have an appointment to see her until February. I’ll need to remember to call her before I leave for Peru if I haven’t heard from her by then. Maybe she will call me after the ultrasound results are in. Those results might dictate something else needs to happen before the ablation can happen.
Good day. My to-do list is complete for the day. Time to have some fun and enjoy the day. All is well on the prairie today!
