Oh my what a day. I got up early in case the guttering guys showed up. They didn’t! Why am I not surprised?
Kathy and I went to my neighbor’s house and picked up a pickup. Kathy drove her car, Tagen drove my car and I drove the pickup to the house in town. Jason met us at the house and helped us load. We loaded all three vehicles about as full as you could get them. Came home and unloaded them and then went back for round two. The second time we filled my car and the pickup.
I stopped and picked up my grocery order and then came home and unloaded my car for the second time. Tagen and his girlfriend got the pickup unloaded.
Tagen followed me back to my friend’s house so we could return the pickup after I fixed him and his girlfriend a quick lunch.
It was HOT out today. It reached 100 in town today. We are all wiped out after that task. Tagen now gets to go through everything and decided what to keep, what to donate and what to store in the barn.
Jason is going to come out tomorrow and help us set up the bed and move another bed to another room. Hopefully by the weekend all the stuff will have found a temporary home and Tagen will be settled in for the long haul.
I am fixing spaghetti and meat balls for dinner. Michelle and Ellexia are coming out for dinner and Tagen and his girlfriend will be here too. That will be a quick and easy dinner to fix and serve and one all the kiddos will enjoy.
Tomorrow or Friday I need to go to Emporia and pick up medication from the vet for the dogs and cat. I will have a car load of things to drop off at Goodwill of things Tagen no longer wants. Nothing else is on my calendar for the weekend except the wedding Saturday night in Lawrence.
It felt good to help Tagen make this big move today. It has made this whole situation feel real to both kiddos and I am betting some emotion will be forthcoming. Change is hard for all and things are still a bit unsettled. I’m grateful I can help them through this and be a safe space for them to vent and ask questions.
Grateful the move was accomplished today without incident, grateful for the use of my dear friend’s pickup, and grateful for Kathy’s help today.
