I was at the hospital this morning by 6:40. Jason had a procedure done. All went well. I was able to see him afterwards before I had to leave to go to the airport.
Met Hazel at the Topeka Rest Area on the Turnpike. We grabbed a quick snack and then I drove to the airport to pick up her brother and his wife. Their flight was a bit early and they didn’t check bags so we were in and out of the airport quickly. I drove them to where Hazel left her truck and then headed home. The drive today was easy – no traffic and little construction to drive around.
I stopped and bought groceries since I was in town so I don’t have to go to town tomorrow. It seems like I bought a lot of groceries as I am fixing two breakfast for 10 people and three dinners for two people. I rarely buy many groceries these days. It will be a busy weekend but should be fun.
After I put the groceries away I sat in my chair for a bit. I kept falling asleep and decided I might as well go lay down and stretch out for a few minutes. Three hours later I woke up. Oops! I may not be able to go to sleep tonight. It felt good to get a good nap though. I’ve had another long stretch of not sleeping well and was tired.
I haven’t gotten my house cleaned yet. After I get done writing I need to get at it and get some of it done tonight and then I will finish up in the morning. I need to get out and mow tomorrow so am running out of time to get everything done. Mowing may have to wait until Friday as I can put it off but not the housecleaning as I have two of the eight guests checking in tomorrow.
Jim is coming up tomorrow afternoon. It will be nice to see him again. I’m not sure how long he is staying this time but he will be here at least through the weekend and maybe into the middle of next week. We hope to work on the deck Monday if it doesn’t rain. I hope we can at least get it sanded while he is here and then I can work on painting it between the rains that are predicted for next week.
It has been another beautiful day on the prairie today. The high was in the upper 70’s. The sunset tonight is wonderful with a full rim of light around the entire horizon. There is no wind this evening and it is simply perfect outside. Wish all of summer was like today.
I got a fairy egg yesterday. They are little eggs about the size of a quarter around and don’t have a yolk in them. They look a bit like quail eggs. I have a chicken that I think that is all she produces. I usually get one about once a month. They aren’t good for much but they are cute and make me smile when I find one.
Grateful Jason’s procedure went well, grateful the trip to KC was smooth and easy, and grateful Jim is coming tomorrow.
