Mother Nature put on quite the fireworks show last night. The kiddos were getting ready to shoot their’s off and the wind came up and it was put on hold. The wind finally slowed down and they were able to shoot some fireworks off. We had a small grass fire from one of them. I grabbed the hose and Kathy got a pitcher of water and we got it out before it got away from us.

We sat out and watched the storm clouds for the longest time. The clouds were beautiful and the lightning was a show in and of itself. We finally got some good rain around midnight. It rained off and on all night. Guessing we got about 1.5 inches but not sure. We have good chances for more rain throughout the rest of the week and into the weekend. I will take every drop we can get.

We watched all the fireworks going off in all directions from my house. It was a wonderful night to sit out and enjoy all the bright exploding colors in the sky. I like fireworks from a distance and got tired of hearing the pops and booms that were part of them.

The kiddos slept in this morning. We had a late night last night watching the storms roll in. I don’t think I made breakfast for Ellexia until 11:00 or so. Tagen had cereal and Ellexia had pancakes and scrambled eggs. Tagen had a cheese quesadilla for lunch followed by a strawberry/banana smoothie. Lex had a cucumber for her afternoon snack. Whatever I guess!

I had a phone conference at 1:00 today. I think it went well. We shall see.

I went to town this afternoon and picked up my grocery order. My baby brother Keith met us at Walmart and gave us a big sack of green beans and a sack of corn. We had the corn for dinner and it was delicious.

The kiddos helped me unload the car when we got home and I managed to find a place for everything. The refrigerator is full! Not used to buying three gallons of milk a week.

I fixed chicken strips, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn on the cob and green beans for dinner. Ellexia peeled the potatoes for me. She did a great job. Kathy joined us tonight and all seemed to enjoy the meal. Kathy and I commented that is was the type of meal Mom used to fix every night when we were growing up.

Tagen did chicken chores for me today and brought up two more eggs. We got the hose changed out. One section of the one I had been using had a leak in it and when I would forget to turn the water off, I was wasting water watering weeds. Now if I forget to turn it off, no worries. Tagen said he would take over doing chicken chores for me while he is here. Wonder if he is including the job of cleaning out the coop in his offer to take over chicken chores?

I didn’t get the appointment made to go to Best Buy tomorrow to replace my iPhone screen. I need a quiet day at home instead. I will do it next week.

Friday morning I am going someplace with Michelle. Fingers crossed it will go smoothly if it doesn’t get cancelled. Still holding out hope that a settlement will be reached and things will work out the way that is best for all.

Sunday is family day. We decided to have it at my house as the forecast is a bit shaky. My job for the meal is to fix the dessert. That will be easy. Everyone is bringing the rest of the meal. I am looking forward to it.

Grateful for the corn on the cob and green beans my brother shared with us, grateful for the rain on the prairie last night, and grateful the grocery order for the week is put away.
