We got a lot done today to get ready to leave for CO Friday. We cleaned out the chicken coop in an attempt to reduce the number of flies buzzing around. Jim and the chickens are fighting over the fly strips he hangs. The chickens like to tear them down. I think the chickens are ahead 4 to 1 right now. He hung some more today so we will see what happens tomorrow.
We went to Emporia and went to the bank so I could deposit a check and get some cash for our trip. I remembered to get some quarters for the laundromat we will use while we are at the Y Camp. I stopped at Guion’s to get a new filter for our refrigerator ice maker. The water was barely coming out of the other one. Not sure the new one fixed the problem so may need to get a repair person out to see what the problem is.
The guys that sell those wonderful cantaloupe were in the parking lot at Guion’s so stopped and got one. It is SO good.
We did a feed haul at Bluestem. Trusting all the critters now have enough feed on hand to get them through the next three weeks.
Went to Walmart and picked up a prescription, some grapes and bananas and then we came home.
Tim needed something so he came out for a bit. I sent half the cantaloupe home with him as we won’t be able to eat it all before we leave Friday and I don’t have enough room in the cooler to take it. Got to hug the grandkids one more time before we leave.
I laid down to take a nap but wasn’t able to go to sleep. I had trouble finding sleep last night. Maybe tonight will be the night sleep finds me.
We have to be on the road before 8:00 tomorrow morning so we can be at my doctor’s appointment in Topeka at 9:15. I didn’t pull out more stuff to pack for our trip to CO until I know for sure we are going to be able to go. I sure hope I don’t ruin our vacation. I doubt that they can get any tests they may want to do scheduled very quickly so thinking we will be safe to go. I do hope the doctor will help me figure out what to do if the C-Diff comes back while we are in CO so I don’t end up in ER. From what I have read there really isn’t much that can be done to cure C-Diff except for a fecal matter transplant. Not sure I qualify for that yet but will find out tomorrow. Antibiotics can help stop an episode but don’t prevent another one from occurring.
If we get to go to CO Friday, I will be busy tomorrow afternoon packing and finishing cleaning the house.
This has been another one of those days I can’t remember what I was doing from one room to the next. I lost my phone in the car – twice. I lost my to do list. Some days just don’t feel very easy to me.
I have been off flour again for three days now and the stomach cramps are gone. I am thinking I have a gluten intolerance from this last round of C-Diff. No big deal really as I don’t usually eat flour anyways. I am struggling a bit to find other foods to eat right now as I was eating lots of crackers for a bit. For some reason grapes and bananas go down good as well as cooked chicken. That is about all I am eating right now. Hoping veggies will start getting added but right now they don’t sound good.
Last time I had C-Diff I found beans, dairy, and raw veggies didn’t sit well with my tummy. I still hadn’t been able to eat any of those foods although I can tolerate a few beans occasionally but found they caused me to bloat if I eat too many. Now I guess I add food that contains gluten to the list of foods that my tummy doesn’t care for. I’m grateful I figured out what was causing the stomach cramps and have been able to get them to stop. They were getting old and wearing me out.
I got caught up printing off my blog. I needed to go back through part of it so I could type out a timeline of this round of C-Diff. It is helpful to have my blog so I can recall when I had good and hard days. I keep a printed copy of the blog as one time I lost two years of my blog when the blog’s server crashed and they couldn’t recover my history.
Jim is outside setting up hoses so the house sitter can water his grass seed and the front flower beds without having to move hoses all around. Trying to make it easy for her to do the watering. Sure don’t want to see my water bill for this month.
Jim is eating left overs again tonight. Trying to get the refrigerator cleaned out before we leave. What doesn’t get eaten tonight I am throwing out tomorrow. Once we get to our cabin in CO I will need to start cooking again.
It reached the mid 90’s today with the heat index over 100. It was miserable out. I am not a fan of hot weather. I got a bit light-headed when I was cleaning out the chicken coop. I was sweating badly which is a bit unusual for me.
Two young people from Council Grove were killed in a motorcycle crash last night. One was 20 and the other 28. The 28-year-old had an infant daughter. I knew the 28-year-old and his mother. Man! Life isn’t fair sometimes. Every time something like that happens it reminds me to not take another day for granted. One just never knows when it is going to be your time to go. I have been thinking all day about them. I also have been thinking about my bucket list and how I spend my time. Haven’t come up with anything I want to do differently at this point but I sure think it it a good thing to think about occasionally.
Grateful our errands got done today, grateful the girls have fresh linens, and grateful to have figured out what was causing my stomach cramps.
