I told Jim this morning I needed a physical job to do today. He had me paint the inside of a kitchen cupboard and inside the new cabinet he is going to hang. I got paint in my hair as I had to climb inside the cabinet to reach the back of it. It felt good to see something I did. I have had a long string of days where it doesn’t seem like I accomplished anything tangible.
I ordered a pair of shoes today. Trusting they will fit. It is hard to find wide width. They are a plain pair of navy pumps.
I helped JIm address a bunch more invitations today. He still has some more he wants to send out but we have to wait for a second order of invitations to come in early next week. Feels good to have most of the invitations out.
Went to Walmart tonight to get some Epsom salt and contact paper for the kitchen cabinets. I found some plates I can use to serve the mints on and I got two bowls for the nuts. Also got a tablecloth for the serving table. Got ingredients to make a sample batch of punch for Jim to taste. We will end up throwing most of it out but I want to have him taste it and see if he likes it. I can’t drink any punch as it all has sugar in it.
I also got the stuff to make a sample batch of mints. The mints freeze well but the recipe recommends only freezing them for three weeks. I got a scoop at Murphy’s today so I may go ahead and make a sample batch of mints now and see how they freeze. I was looking for some large silicon ice cube trays so I can make big cubes that I will put maraschino cherries and mint leaves in to cool the punch. I couldn’t find any. Jim has a tray that makes six cubes so I can use it and make several batches and freeze.
Mailed the check for the extra cake I ordered as well as the deposit for the flowers.
Tomorrow we go to the Subaru dealer and learn how to operate all the systems in my car. We are also going to Costco to get some things for the wedding. May stop by REI for a day pack.
We have a free weekend and hope to get lots more work done in the kitchen. Jim got some support boards put in while I was painting. He is almost done with that. I will get that area painted either tomorrow night or Friday and then we can get the dishwasher in place and plugged in.
We got some paint samples for the cabinets and walls but what we got isn’t going to work. We’ll have to go back and try again. We aren’t ready to paint the walls and cabinets yet so have time to think about what colors would work better.
We got busy working this afternoon and forgot to go take our walk. Jim had choir practice tonight so we couldn’t do it after dinner. Hopefully when we get home from Oklahoma City tomorrow afternoon we can get a long walk in.
Texted with Ellexia for a bit today. She seems to be feeling better. She told me she was bored staying home. I’m glad her mom kept her home today for another day of rest. I’ve heard there is a lot of crud going around and once you get down it is hard to get over it.
Grateful for a painting job today, grateful some more to-do things are crossed off the list, and grateful progress is being made on the kitchen.
