Happy New Year!  May 2020 bring many blessings and much peace to all mankind.

We stayed up till midnight and celebrated the start of a new year.  I was in bed by 12:10!  Jim stayed up for a bit after that.  We stayed in and had a quiet, peaceful evening.  Neither of us enjoy crowds and I don’t like cold.

We got up and going this morning when the Lowe’s delivery man called and said he would be here in 30 minutes to deliver the new refrigerator.  I emptied everything out of the old one while they took off doors and frames to be able to get the old one out and the new one in.

When they were successful we sorted through all of the contents in the refrigerator and eliminated many jars and containers of unknown origins.  After we got the refrigerator put back together we tackled the freezer.  Jim was pretty good about dating the meat and leftovers.  We threw away over half of the contents of the freezer.  At least now we both know what is in it and will work to use the rest of the meat up soon.  Have lots of room for new stuff now.

The freezer is an old fashioned type that you have to unplug to let defrost.  I worked on that this afternoon and chipped the ice away.  It finally got all melted and I put the freezer stuff back in place.  We have lots of freezer space now.

Jim got a shingles vaccine yesterday and has been achy and tired today.  After we had lunch he went to take a nap and has been sleeping for over five hours.  Hope it is just the vaccine and not the flu.  He wouldn’t take some ibuprofen before he laid down.  Trusting he will be feeling better when he finally wakes up.

I went to JoAnn Crafts this afternoon while Jim was sleeping.  I had been given a gift certificate and wanted to use it up before I forgot about it.  The gift certificate purchased enough yarn for three more baby blankets.  That will keep me busy for a bit.  I wanted to get some fun fur that I use as trim for the blankets and shawls I make but they don’t sell it anymore.  That stuff has become hard to find.

Have been working on a jig saw puzzle today.  Gives me something to do and keeps me from eating all day.  For some reason the last couple of days I have been hungry all the time.  We still have some Christmas treats laying around and I have been tempted more this week than I have for months.  I have almost two years of not eating sugar or flour under my belt and I don’t want to blow it now.  So far I have resisted the urge to have just one white chocolate covered pretzel.  I can resist it!  I can resist it!

Did two loads of laundry today but nothing else productive this afternoon.  It was a nice day out but a touch windy.  My feet have been fairly quiet today probably because I have stayed off of them most of the afternoon.  They were cranky during the night again last night.

I need to figure out something for dinner.  I am waiting for Jim to get up before I start anything as I don’t know if he will feel like eating anything or not.  I have some left over taco meat and will make a taco salad if not.  There is also some left over chicken that needs used up.  We are committed to using up left overs and not wasting so much food.

Ellexia just FaceTime with me.  I love when she does that.  She had a sleep over last night and wanted to share all the details with me.  Sounds like they had a fun evening.

Not sure what is on the agenda for tomorrow.  We may go car shopping unless we find a project of some sort to work on.

Grateful for a new year full of promise and hope, grateful for a new refrigerator and a clean freezer, and grateful for my granddaughter who was full of excitement and wanted to share with me.
