It has been a some what productive day on the prairie today. We went into Emporia this afternoon. I had my thyroid levels checked – they were high at over 4.0. They had been running way too low. Hard to hit the target with it sometimes.

After the blood draw we went to Bluestem for chicken feed, cottonseed hulls and dog food. I like to line the nesting boxes with cottonseed hulls as it keeps the eggs cleaner. The girls ate lots of food during the cold snap. We got 200 pounds – should last us for a couple of weeks.

Then we went to Walmart and picked up some groceries. It always surprises me how fast they add up. I didn’t think we got much and we spent over $150.

Stopped at Fanestil’s for some bacon and turkey and then came home. I was worn out from shopping.

We picked out our shingle color for the new investment property and called the roofing company. They are going to come next week and do the roof. Yay! That was fast and easy. It will be good to have the new roof on the property before we attempt to rent it out. We. must have gotten in before the spring roofing surge hits.

Took a short nap after we got everything put away. I didn’t sleep well again last night. Darn it anyways. Didn’t sleep very long this afternoon but felt better when I woke up.

Cleaned the two upstairs bathrooms this morning. Changed the sheets on our bed and then washed the bathroom rugs. Trying to get things in shape in case I don’t feel well for a day or two after I get my vaccine tomorrow.

Jim got all the chicken feed sorted and put into smaller containers. He said he didn’t have to take a hike today as he got his exercise hauling feed. He got the two cars unloaded from the stuff he brought up from Stillwater. He also got the compost dumped. We need to load up the car with recycling stuff and take it to Cottonwood and then I think we are caught up on things that we needed to get done today.

It always feels good to get all those little things taken care of. They seem to patiently wait for us. None of them take a lot of time to do – it just seems to be hard to stop and take time to take care of them.

I got on the hot line last night and handled four calls. I didn’t feel I was as patient as I should have been so signed off after a bit. Sometimes when I am tired I want to jump to problem solving and not allow them time to process and come up with their own solutions. I have a shift tonight. I booked off my shift for tomorrow night in case I don’t feel good. If I don’t have a reaction to the vaccine I can always log on and work the line.

I called the internet company again today. We are still having a problem getting thrown offline constantly. The guy is to mail me a new power cord to the router. We will see if that fixes the problem. If not, they will have to come replace the router. Sure will be glad when the new internet company comes out this way.

We have to be in Emporia by 9:00 in the morning for our vaccines. Nothing else is on our calendar until next Monday. Trusting we will have a quiet, relaxing weekend at home on the prairie. We don’t have anything on our urgent to-do list that has to be done.

Jim starts teaching one of two of his Osher classes next week. He says he is almost ready for the class. He has been doing lots of reading, note taking and outline making to get ready to teach it. Not sure how many hours he puts in to put the class together but it is a lot of hours. He enjoys teaching them and it gives him something to do.

I have an appointment to get my teeth cleaned one day next week. The student that is doing it this time will graduate in May so I will have to get hooked up with a different student for my fall cleaning. I need to call and get an appointment to get my hair cut next week. Maybe I can fit both of those into one trip to town.

Hoping next Monday we can start cleaning and painting on the new property. It will be good to get inside the house and really see what we purchased. Trusting that project will come in under budget – you never know until you get a good look and even then surprises can happen.

The temperature was a more seasonal temperature of 50 today. Still feels good after the bitter cold we had a week ago.

I have two rows to go and then I can cast off on the birthday blanket I am making. I need to sit down tonight and get that done. I have in mind what my next project will be. I need to go yarn shopping and get it ordered so I can get another one started.

Grateful the to-do- list is almost cleared out, grateful the roof will get done next week, and grateful we get our second vaccine tomorrow.
