The closing on the new investment property was quick and easy. They didn’t receive my wired funds until late last night but were able to turn things around and proceed with the closing. The seller will remain on the property for another two weeks so we won’t get started with the remodel until he leaves. Too cold to work right now anyways.

I stopped at the water department in Cottonwood Falls to get the water changed over to my name on the 26th. I had to go to the office to fill out an application. The copy machine blew a fuse or something and was dead so I need to mail a copy of my driver’s license to them tomorrow. I had to pay a $50 deposit to start services. Neither the gas nor electric company requires a deposit.

I still need to call to arrange for the furnace and electrical system to be checked out and then I think I have all the immediate needs taken care of. I’m sure my list will grow once we get inside and really check things out. Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit and it will get nice to be outside again.

We went into Emporia after the closing and dropped our tax package off at the accountant’s office. That felt good to have that handed off. My accountant won’t get started on it until after March 1 but at least it is in his hands and off my desk.

We stopped at Walgreen’s to pick up a prescription for Jim and then went to Walmart for groceries. Got what we needed and then some and then headed home. It was good to get back home.

I took a nap after we got home. Going to town wears me out quickly these days. I had finally gotten some good sleep last night but I have a Crisis Hot Line Shift tonight and need to stay up late.

I fixed Jim scalloped potatoes with ham for dinner before I laid down for my nap. He put them in the oven at 4:30 and when I got up at 6:00 dinner was all but ready. That was easy.

The pan of sprouted wheat berries is ready to be fed to the girls. It looks so pretty and green sitting on my kitchen counter. I started another pan two days ago. It will be turning green in two more days. I’ll keep starting a pan every four days and the girls will get a pan full of freshly sprouted wheat berries to eat every four days. They gave me 25 eggs today. They don’t seem to mind having to stay inside and stay warm and dry. I now have nine dozen eggs in my refrigerator. Anyone need eggs?

Nothing on the calendar for tomorrow. Friday I have to give myself the two cholesterol shots. This time I am going to do them at bedtime since I have to take Benadryl with them and the Benadryl makes me feel drugged and sleepy. Next week I need to call and order another set of shots. Trusting there will be no issues since I switched insurance companies. It took a month last time to get the insurance approved to get the shots. The retail cost for the is over $1,500 a shot.

We don’t have anything going on this weekend or next week until we have to go to town on the 19th to get our second vaccine injection. We will hopefully be able to wait for our next grocery trip until the 19th so we only have to go to town once next week. We will see if it works that way.

Got a bit of cleaning done yesterday and did some more this morning. The house is feeling a bit better to me. I still need to do some more cleaning but it is good to have some of the house clean. Not sure what I do with my days but I seem to forget that I need to clean a room or two a day. If I can remember to clean a room a day the house stays clean and it isn’t such a big deal. When I get behind this house feels overwhelmingly big to clean.

We only have two weeks to decide what we are going to do about going to CO this summer. Still so many unknowns and not sure when to go and for how long. I’m just not feeling like going anywhere yet. CO was safe last year and I’m sure it will be this year. We don’t know how many of the kids will want to come out and stay with us. I do not want to rent a big house again and not have it used. Wish we didn’t have to decide this far in advance but that is how their rental system works. If we wait until later the chances of getting what we want is slim.

I’m still struggling with getting out. I told Jim on the way to town today that I have forgotten how to be around people and find it draining and exhausting. I was impatient in the store today with the customers that were brain dead and not aware of others around them. My travel lust seems to have gone away. It may return at some point but the very thought of traveling right now turns me off. I would much rather stay home on the prairie. I do look forward to being able to have the kids over for dinner or for the weekend and to have the grandkids come out for the day. It will be fun to have friends over for dinner too but beyond that I am not ready to rejoin the “normal” world. Wonder when I will be?

Grateful for an easy closing today, grateful the trip to town is done and errands taken care of, and grateful for a long nap today.
