Had a bit more active day today. We got a pass into the Rocky Mountain National Park for 9 – 11 this morning. We drove part way up Trail Ridge Road and stopped at the Ute Trailhead and took a four mile hike. I hadn’t walked that far for a long time. Going to the crest was not bad. The trail was very rocky and you had to keep your eyes on the ground to watch your step all the time. Sometimes I had to remind myself to stop and look up at the beauty all around me.

When we turned around to go back we had to walk uphill for a bit. All of a sudden I got very nauseous, light-headed and weak in the legs. I sat down for a bit. I thought I was going to lose my breakfast but my tummy finally calmed down. I was able to walk another little bit and then had to sit again. Once I got up after that I was able to make it the rest of the way with no problem. Don’t know if I had a bit of altitude sickness or what happened.

Came home and I took a short nap. It sure felt good to lay down for a bit.

We went over to Jim’s friend’s cabin and had a cocktail hour with them. They are good folk and it was fun to be with friends.

I did laundry when we came back to our cabin. It is good to have that job done. The laundry mat was not busy so it was a good time to go over and get that done. I knitted almost a whole dish rag while I was waiting for the laundry to finish.

Came back and folded laundry. We had a small dinner tonight as we had snacks earlier.

It is getting cool this evening again. It warmed up to the low 70’s today although where we were hiking was above tree line so it was only in the upper 50’s during our hike. The wind was a bit brisk at times too. I was glad I had two jackets with me as I got cold on the hike at times. The trail was not crowded and the people we passed were all pleasant.

Evening temperatures had been dropping to the lower 40’s. It is to be nice again tomorrow. Sure was good to see sunshine for most of the day today.

I attempted to get another pass into the park for tomorrow but got kicked off the website. Jim can get to where he wants to go tomorrow without a pass if he gets to the park before 9:00. He and his friend’s daughter are hiking tomorrow morning. I’m not sure if I am going or not. I don’t want to overdo and hurt myself. I’ll decide in the morning. They will be able to go further and faster if I don’t go. I may stay at camp and walk around here.

Our first week here is almost up already. Time is going by quickly. Jim’s sons arrive on the 15th. We are so looking forward to seeing them as we haven’t seen them since December, 2019.

Proud of myself for going four miles today. I have been very sedentary lately due to the C-Diff and it feels good to move my body again. Maybe this time in the mountains will jump start me to getting back in shape.

Grateful for the beauty of the mountains, grateful for a safe hike, and grateful what ever happened on the hike was short lived and I was able to finish the hike OK.
