I am back home on the prairie. Nicole is doing well. Still having bouts with pain but that is to be expected. She has done a great job keeping off of her foot, keeping it elevated and icing it often. She has had some bleeding but not enough to need a dressing change tomorrow. She is handling being on crutches like a champ and can even do steps if needed.

We both felt like she was ready to be on her own tomorrow so I came home after Geoff got off work today. It was fun spending time with her but it is oh so good to be back home on the prairie.

It was helpful that I had been through the surgery Nicole just had. I did mine in four surgeries and she is doing a two-for-one so will only need two surgeries. It isn’t an easy surgery to recover from but it does get better day by day.

I don’t have anything on my calendar for tomorrow so it will be a recovery day for me. I feel like I need a day to get grounded and get all of me home again. Then I need to start cleaning house and thinking about Jason’s wedding the end of September.

Someday soon I need to have my thyroid levels checked again. I have been alternating the new liquid Synthroid with the tablet. My levels feel appropriate but I have been fooled before. I hope I have found the magic formula to keep my levels more balanced.

Grateful for the time I got to spend with Nicole, grateful for a safe trip home, and grateful to be able to sleep in my own bed tonight.
