Another hot summer day on the prairie. We reached over 100 again today. Hopefully the cool front that is to come in late weekend will arrive and next week will offer us some relief from this heat.

I followed Tagen to Cottonwood Falls this afternoon. He has decided to try to get the Mustang fixed and sell the pickup. Casey did a good job on the pickup so Tagen is trusting him to fix the Mustang. Hopefully the fix will fit in Tagen’s budget. Casey is pretty backed up right now but he said he would try to get to it next week.

I changed the sheets on Ellexia’s beds today. While I was making up the beds I made her clean her room. She changes clothes three times a day and just drops them on the floor when she takes them off. They aren’t dirty but…. We got her room picked up and all the water bottles and cookie wrappers picked up. We found a laundry basket full of dirty clothes. Not sure how long it will stay that way but it is clean tonight. Not sure she likes Grandma’s cleaning standards but she did say it was easier to find things when everything is put away. Go figure!

Am fixing leftover spaghetti and meatballs for Tagen and Michelle’s dinner tonight. That will be easy. Ellexia is with her dad for the evening but will back at 9:00. It is too hot to turn the over on and cook.

There were some thunderstorms that came close today. We heard the thunder a couple of times but no rain out of them. Man, we need rain badly.

Tomorrow I take my car to Cottonwood Falls at 10:00 for an oil change. I will go to Emporia in the afternoon to pick up my on-line grocery order at 3:00. While I am in town, I need to stop at Bluestem and get 200 pounds of chicken feed and 100 pounds of dog food. The chickens go through about 50 pounds a week of feed.

Tagen brought up 19 eggs today. I sold five dozen yesterday and three dozen today. Have three dozen on the counter ready to find a home. They are starting to stack up on me a bit. I haven’t told Tagen yet, but I am going to split the egg money with him. He has taken over doing the chicken chores and is doing a great job. Next week when it is cooler, we need to clean out the chicken coop. Bet he will love that – not!

Kathy and I sat outside to watch the Super Moon rise last night. They was a low bank of clouds on the horizon so we didn’t get to see it until it was up for a bit. It kept getting brighter and brighter as it rose above the clouds. Ellexia and Tagen came out and joined us for a bit. The sky was lit up all night from the light of the moon. I love nights like that.

Have been a bit cranky again today. Part of it is the heat, part of it is the full moon, and part of it is I am not sleeping well again. It will all sort itself out sooner or later. I will stay in time-out until this too shall pass.

Grateful the Mustang is in Casey’s very capable hands, grateful for 19 eggs from the girls today, and grateful I can stay home the rest of the day.
