Jim left for Stillwater around 1:00 this afternoon. I took a short nap after he left. It is hot out again today and I didn’t feel like painting this afternoon. My blood pressure is still a tad low at 105/56. Getting out in the heat didn’t seem like a good idea.

Again the house feels big and empty with Jim gone. He will be back either Friday or Saturday so he won’t be gone long. I have to go to Topeka Thursday so that day will go by quickly. Tomorrow I need to run into Emporia and have my blood draw so my thyroid levels can be checked. I’ll pick up a few groceries while I am in town.

Cleaning and painting is on my agenda for this week. I would like to finish up the downstairs so all I will need to do the week of the wedding is do some touch up cleaning downstairs. It will be good to have it all deep cleaned.

One thing I do need to do this week before I go to Topeka is try on some dresses I have. I need to see if one of them will work for the wedding. If not, I will need to get one in Topeka while I am there. I hate trying on clothes and shopping so hoping one of the dresses will work. Guess I can make one work if I have to. Not sure what I am looking for and not sure it matters much what I wear. All eyes and attention will be on the groom and bride and not on the mother of the groom.

I have a couple of letters I need to write this week. I have so enjoyed writing letters again. One of the ways I coped with the Covid restrictions and isolation was writing letters. I have reconnected with some people that are important to me. It is so fun to receive a letter in the mail and even more fun to mail one to someone special.

I keep reading conflicting reports on how careful one should be if you are fully vaccinated. You hear of break through cases all the time yet I read an article today that said the chances of having one is slim to almost none. This is such a new virus that the science seems to keep changing daily. For now I am going to continue to take precautions although I am feeling a bit safer about taking a risk here and there. Still not ready to eat out often but will do so occasionally.

Grateful for my air conditioner on this hot day, grateful for the post office and their ability to deliver letters to others, and grateful for afternoon naps.
