Happy birthday to my oldest daughter Michelle. I am so proud of the woman she has become. Can’t believe she is 41 years old. Where does the time go?

I went to Emporia this morning to take Jim’s cat Tony to the vet. I dropped him off so they could run some tests on him to see if he is diabetic. They called me about 30 minutes after I dropped him off to tell me that he is diabetic. They are going to give him insulin today and see how his levels are later this afternoon. He may need to stay a day or two so they can figure out the correct dosage of insulin. I’m glad I took him in and had him checked. I think we caught it before there was any nerve damage done.

I went to the library book sale and purchased two paper grocery sacks full of books for $20. I must have gotten 30 books or more and most are in like new condition. What a deal. Found some by some of my favorite authors I don’t think I have read yet. At that price I’m not out much if I have read it before. I always pick up several new authors to try too. Some years I think I pick up books I donated earlier in the year to the book sale.

Stopped by Bobby D’s to confirm my catering order for Jason’s wedding day. The manager wasn’t in so wasn’t able to do so. I will go back by or call them later to get that task done.

Since I was parked by the post office I went in and got some stamps. They weren’t busy and it was a good time to get that task done.

Dropped the Chex Mix off at the kids house. Tim was off today so got to visit with him for a bit. They are coming out for dinner tonight so will get to see all of them later.

Got my haircut. Always feels good to get that done. I enjoy visiting with my hair dresser.

Stopped at the grocery store and picked up a few groceries for tonight’s dinner and then came home. Jim was going to leave for Stillwater today but after finding out about Tony decided to stay home for the next couple of days. He wants to go to the vet and learn how to take care of Tony and learn the whole shot thing. Not sure now when he might go to Stillwater. It will depend on when Tony gets to come home.

It was good to get all my errands done but I came home tired. Being in town wears me out faster than anything else. I think I get to stay home for a few days now and not have to leave the prairie unless I go with Jim to pick up Tony. We will see what happens. Usually when I plan on staying home for three or four days something comes up and I end up going to town.

Before I went to town I went to Cottonwood Falls and picked up some Coneflower plants from a friend that is thinning out her garden. Jim is going to plant them for me this afternoon. Thanks Vicki – we will think of you when we see them blooming next year.

It is a bit cloudy out and not so hot today. I think I will go out and paint for an hour or so this afternoon. We are to get rain overnight but it should have time to dry before the rain comes in. I need to do something productive and start marking things off my to do list in preparation for the wedding. Time is flying by and the wedding will be here before I get to everything if I don’t get started.

Need to get dinner organized and fixed. I think I have a free hour or so before I need to get it started. It will be fun to have the kids out and get to see Michelle on her birthday.

Grateful for Michelle and all the joy she brings to my life, grateful we discovered Tony’s diabetes before it got too out of hand, and grateful Jim is hanging around for a few more days to learn how to care for Tony.
