The solar panels are installed.  Next up is the electric company will come out and replace the meter.  That will happen within the next ten days.  Once that is done I will be on my way to lower electric bills.

The guys had trouble getting enough internet strength down to the shop.  They were on Plan D when they finally solve their problem.  The system sends messages to the installers and emails to me if there is a problem.  They are going to send me a link so I can download an app and be able to tell how much electricity I am using and how much I am giving to the electric company.

My fool proof water solution for the chickens is not fool proof.  The damn lid is hard to make sure it is on.  I thought it was and after I lifted it out of the bucket the lid fell off and spilled three gallons of water on the floor of the coop.  Second try was successful.  I put some fresh straw down over my water mess.  I also cussed a bit when it happened – imagine that!

Baked some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for Jim.  I gave some to the solar installers – they said they were good.  I won’t eat any but they smell good.

Dropped off the tea towels and baby blanket donations at the Chamber office.  Filled my car up with gas and dropped off some more recycling material.  Changed the sheets on my bed and did laundry today.  I have white chicken chili in the crock pot for dinner when Jim gets here.  I don’t expect him until 6:40 or so.  He got a late start from Stillwater.

It is another cold, winter like day on the prairie.  We had a hard freeze last night and it is to start snowing later tonight and snow all night and all day tomorrow.  Not sure I am ready for snow cover yet.

Jim and I are going to KC Thursday.  I’m glad the attorney wasn’t available Wednesday or we would have had to drive in the snow.  Hoping by Thursday the roads will be clear.  If not, we may cancel and reschedule for the third time.

Tomorrow we don’t have anything on the calendar that has to be done.  It will be fun to spend the day with Jim.  Thursday we go to KC and Friday I have two guests coming in that are staying until Sunday.  Sometime while Jim is here we need to go to Bluestem so I can purchase chicken feed and dog food.  I want to be well stocked before I have surgery next week.

Not looking forward to daylight savings time Saturday night.  I like the longer daylight at night time and being able to sleep in the dark longer in the mornings.  It seems each year to take me longer and longer to adjust to the change.  Wish they would leave it alone.

Stopped and got a new heat lamp and new bulbs.  One of the shields I had wasn’t working.  Found another one when I got home and when I put a new bulb in it it worked.  Now I have an extra new shield.  I need to figure out if the other bulbs I have are burn out or if they were in the broken shield.  I use one down in the chicken coop to help keep the water from freezing and when it is especially cold I put one on for the dogs to warm up under.  They don’t spend much time under it but I feel better knowing they have that option.

Radar is showing some snow on the Turnpike south of here.  Trusting Jim will drive safely.  Seems like people forget how to drive on snow each year and this is the first snow of this winter.

Surgery is a week from tomorrow.  Hoping I have remembered to get everything I need to get done before done.  I will make one more trip to the grocery store next Tuesday to get things I’ll want to eat for the first week or so.  As it is my right foot this time I won’t be able to drive for six to eight weeks.  Good thing Jim will be with me most of that time.

Feeling a bit cranky this afternoon and I’m not sure why.  I’ve had a quiet day at home for the most part.  It will be good to see Jim when he gets here.

Grateful the solar panels are installed, grateful the chickens and dogs have working heat lamps, and grateful Jim will be here soon.
