This has been a long day full of adventure. We boarded our bus at 8:00 this morning and headed out to the Featherdale Wildlife Park. It was about a two-hour bus ride to get there. We made a quick scenic stop and had one potty stop. The Wildlife Park was small but full of animals and birds. We fed the Red Kangaroo, saw Koala, a wombat and lots of other animals and birds.
We had lunch at a little village not too far from the wildlife park. Then we drove up into the Blue Mountains and went to the Katoomba Scenic World. After riding a cable car across a mountain valley we got into a cable car and went down a steep mountain. We then took about a one mile walk through the forest. Along the way were dinosaur eggs and replicate dinosaurs. At the end of the trail we rode another cable car back to the entrance. We then had over a two-hour bus ride back to the city.
Another long day sitting on a bus! It felt good to get to walk a bit during the day.
We had dinner at a restaurant close to our hotel and then walked down to the Opera House to see the light display they put on after sunset. While we were waiting for the light display I saw the moon! It was a windy evening but not very cold. We walked back to the hotel after the eight minute light show.
I am ready to take a bath and go to bed. I hit overwhelm again today after being in a bus for so long. I feel like a herded cat! It was good to get out tonight on our own for a bit.
Tomorrow we travel to Cairns which is over a three-hour flight. We fall back another hour again. Thursday we will get to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. Friday we have a full day adventure riding the Kuranda Train and going on a rainforest tour and ending the day at the Koala and Wildlife Park. Saturday we travel to Melbourne and Monday head for home.
Grateful for another safe travel day, grateful for all the sweet animals we saw today, and grateful for the beautiful weather we had today.
