What a day. I’m glad I am home and this day is done. Neither one of us slept very good last night and we were both up before the alarm went off at 8:00 this morning. If you know Jim, you will understand how unusual that is.

We were on the road to Stillwater by 9:00. I made a quick stop to deliver some eggs in Matfield Green and we stopped again at Belle Plain for gas. Got to Stillwater before noon. Jim had some errands to run and I stayed at the house and started packing up books. Jim brought Wendy’s chili back with him when he came home. We ate our chili and then he went out to the shop and started gathering up things he wanted to bring back. We filled up my car and Jim’s Honda Element.

We left for Strong City around 3:25. We drove in rain both ways today. There is a lot of water standing in the ditches between here and Stillwater. Traffic wasn’t heavy except for about three miles around Wichita on the way south.

I drove by the new investment property when we came home through Cottonwood Falls to make sure they had picked up the dumpster. They had and they left some good sized tracks in the yard where they had to drive to pick up the dumpster. Glad to have that gone so I can cross it off my list.

I quickly fixed a ham, cheese, and onion omelet for dinner along with some hash browns. It was quick and easy. We were both hungry and tired. Jim took care of the chickens while I fixed dinner. They gave us 24 eggs today. I got rid of four dozen eggs today but got two dozen more. They pile up quickly.

After dinner I gathered up the trash and Jim took it down to the curb. I need to remember to go into town tomorrow and set out the trash there. We filled up the trash container when we were picking up the yard Sunday.

Tomorrow the furnace guy is coming to fix the water that is leaking out of the furnace. I haven’t heard from the door guys so will need to call them again and see if they got my message. I also need to call the electrician as I still haven’t heard from them. Sure wish I only had to make one call to get things done.

So far the internet is working although we weren’t home and on it much today so far. Not sure I believe it has been fixed yet but am hoping it has been. The printer is still not working properly but we will take it one step at a time.

I need to call and schedule an oil change for my car sometime this week. I keep forgetting to do so. I turned 13,000 miles today on the way home. I got the car on January 3, 2020 so haven’t put lots of miles on it yet. COVID 19 grounded me and I didn’t travel much last year.

I promised Tagen some cookies tomorrow so will need to get those made in the morning and taken to town tomorrow afternoon. I hope to go in to Cottonwood Falls and paint in the morning for two hours or so. I would love to get the kitchen walls finished with the first coat. I need to see some progress on that house. I also need to test the new keys to see if they are going to work – I have my doubts. If they don’t I can take them back when I deliver cookies tomorrow afternoon.

I have a crisis hot line shift tomorrow night. Last night I worked for about two hours and handled seven callers. None of them were high risk. I had an interesting exchange with a woman that is not enjoying being a mother. I trust I handled her with grace and compassion even though I was a bit shocked at what she had to say. I’m too tired to get on the hot line tonight. Not sure I would have much patience or grace.

Jim will unload the cars tomorrow. Both of us are too tired tonight to mess with it. Some of the stuff needs to go downstairs and it would be easier to drive the car to the back lower doors and not have to carry the stuff so far. With all the rain we have had we can’t do that right now. If we wait a day or two it will dry out enough that we can drive up to the back door.

We don’t have anything on our calendar for the weekend after Jim teaches his class on Thursday. Am hoping we spend a couple hours a day at the new house and make some real progress. So far next week is pretty open too so we should be good to go and work lots on the new house.

I feel old and tired tonight. Sitting in a car for six hours wore me out. I’m glad that trip is done and out of the way – until next time at least. We really need to get back down there and stay for a solid week and get lots of work done down there. Everywhere I look we have lots of work to do. Somehow it seems to patiently wait for us to get to it.

Grateful for a safe trip to and from Stillwater today, grateful the dumpster is gone, and grateful for the rain that is falling on the prairie.
