Another night of little sleep. This is getting old quick. At least I got two hours in a row last night. That is more and better sleep than I had gotten the last couple of nights so maybe things are going to improve from here. I am feeling very sleep deprived right now.

Got on the hot line last night and handled four callers. Had another heart breaker case. At the end of it the texter was in a better space mentally than when they texted in. It felt good to get them there but oh my their situation is a hard one for them.

Went to Emporia before noon today. I picked up our tax returns. Jim has to sign a form before they can file the taxes so I will have to run the form into town tomorrow. I need to get our federal money back so I can pay the state. Easy come – easy go.

Stopped by the Salvation Army and dropped off eight boxes of stuff collected from the investment property. It feels good to have that out of the house and gone.

Went to my dental cleaning appointment. The girl that did my cleaning last time asked me when I got there if I would allow another student to do it this time. Each student has to handle a certain variety of cleanings and my teeth fit some special category that they don’t see often. I said yes and by the time it was over I wished I had said no.

This is the first time I felt like the student cleaning my teeth was not well suited for her new profession. She had a high, squeaky voice that grated on me. She had the personality of a stump. I was surprised she was a second year student as she kept hitting my teeth with her instruments. She had to take each x-ray twice as she didn’t position the thingy correctly. I was there for three hours and she didn’t get done. She did some extra things as she is using me as a class presentation case study. I have to go back March 30 for her to finish the cleaning and then back a third time for her to do something to finish up the case study.

When she was looking at her calendar to schedule my return visit I told her I could only do Tuesday afternoons. The first date she gave me was a Thursday afternoon. I repeated my limitations. The second date she gave me was a Tuesday morning. I repeated my limitations. The third date she gave me was a Thursday morning. I repeated my limitations. She finally found a Tuesday afternoon. Man! Some people can’t hear and listen at the same time.

It was a great lesson to me to next time say no to special requests. I came home grumpy and with a headache.

I called and ordered a dumpster to be delivered to the new investment property. They are bringing it tomorrow. We will have 30 days to get it filled and then I am to call them so they can come back and pick it up. We are having a work day with some of my kids helping us this coming Sunday afternoon. I bet we will get most of the stuff into the dumpster then. Jim has an old garage he wants to tear down and add to the dumpster if we have room left at the end of the day.

The roofing company called and let me know they are delivering shingles tomorrow. That means they will be starting the project either Friday or next Monday.

Thursday the furnace is going to be cleaned and inspected. Progress is slowly starting to happen. I was going to go in and work some more sorting through stuff this afternoon but decided not to go in. Not sure I would be very productive today.

I have ham and corn chowder cooking in the crock pot for dinner tonight. I’m glad dinner is already ready when we are ready to eat. I don’t feel like cooking tonight.

It is another beautiful day on the prairie today. Temperatures are in the mid 60’s with bright, blue skies. It is a touch windy again but this is KS and most days are a touch windy in KS.

The girls gave us 28 eggs today – a new record. I have 29 hens so all but one laid an egg today. What to do with all these eggs is the big question around here these days. When the kids come over Sunday I am going to fix potato salad and deviled eggs. That will use up at least two dozen eggs. Maybe I will make an angel food cake and use up even more.

It does feel good to have a project to organize and work my through. I have need a big project and this property is providing that. I sure would like to have it done and ready to be rented out no later than the first of May. We will see if we can hit that target or not.

Grateful our taxes will be filed tomorrow, grateful they can deliver a dumpster tomorrow, and grateful for the wonder of eggs – they still amaze me when I gather them each and everyday.
