Worked on refinishing the deck yesterday.  Got the first gallon of paint applied.  One down and many to go!  Jim sanded the railing and used wood fill to make it look smooth.  The guy that did the power washing did a really good job.  Trusting it will stay dry and I can get the rest of the front decks painted this week.  Jim still needs to do some sanding on the back deck before we can paint it.

Went into Emporia yesterday and went shopping.  I had a long list of items needed including a new weed eater.  I was tired of shopping by the time we got home.  Need to go back in today and get more deck paint.  I had only gotten one gallon as I wasn’t sure about the color.  I like it so will get several more gallons today.

This morning we are going to Wichita so I can see my foot surgeon.  I will set the date for my first bunion surgery today.  It will be sometime around the first of August.  Plan on doing the second one sometime in November or December.  It will be good to get those both fixed and to have pain free feet again.

Jim is going back to OK tomorrow.  It is sure more fun having him around then when we are apart.  He will be back for the Symphony weekend next week.

Have the house almost recovered from having all the rodeo guests stay over.  I still need to vacuum the steps and clean three more rooms downstairs.  All the laundry is done and put away and the beds are made.  I returned the borrowed air mattresses yesterday.

This afternoon we hope to paint again if the rain moves around us again like the predicted storm did yesterday.  Can we get lucky two days in a row?  Guess I’ll find out this afternoon.  The air feels thick and heavy this morning.  It was sure warm and humid yesterday afternoon.

I finally got brave and have used my Instant Pot.  Oh my Gosh!  It is amazing.  I have fixed split pea soup with ham, pot roast and Pot Chicken with Potatoes.  All three meals have been amazing and ever so easy.  Tonight I am fixing ham and bean soup. It will be nice this summer to fix dinners without having to turn the oven on.  The food is so moist and flavorful.  I am so glad I finally got brave and tried it.  I am a big fan of it now.

The intern that is spending the summer with me has enjoyed having dinner with us. I told him I don’t usually cook dinner but since Jim is here I have been.  He is very polite and good company.  We have enjoyed having him join us for dinner.  I still forget he is here and am having to remind myself to dress decently when I come out of my bedroom early in the morning in case he comes upstairs to fix his breakfast.

I got a good three hour first sleep last night and then struggled to get more sleep.  May need to take a nap today when I get home from Wichita.  We want to stop by Costco and then need to get more deck paint before we return home.

Grateful the deck project is underway and the first gallon of paint has been applied, grateful for discovering how easy the Instant Pot is to use, and grateful for this time with Jim.
