This would have been mom and dad’s wedding anniversary. 71 years together! I think of them often and smile when I think of them being together again. They were great parents and I am blessed to have had them for as long as we did.
This has been a semi productive day. I used a scrubby to wash the laminated bugs off the front of my car. I then went into Cottonwood Falls to drop off my recycling and to wash my car. The recycling bin was packed so full I couldn’t get my stuff in the trailer. The car wash was out of order so the trip into town was a bust.
I vacuumed the steps and while I had the vacuum downstairs took the screens off a few of the windows and vacuumed the screens and window sills. A few of them were nasty dirty.
Cleaned out the master bathroom drawers. That task was way overdue. Found a bunch of stuff to get rid of and created a couple of empty drawers. I like simplicity and order and now my closets and bathroom drawers line up with that value.
I haven’t gotten all of the house cleaned but have been working on it. I still have several hours to work on it tonight and I will have tomorrow evening and part of Thursday to finish it all up. Decided dusting needed to wait until Thursday as it will just be dusty again if I do it today.
Tomorrow I am going to the airport to pick up a friend’s brother and his wife. They are coming in to go to Hutch’s Celebration of Life Service on Friday.
Thursday I need to go to Emporia to buy groceries for the weekend. I need to think of something to fix for dinner Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights. I may make crock pot hamburger soup for Friday night. I can get it going before I have to go to Manhattan and it will be ready when I get home. It makes a big batch and then if any of the guests need dinner they can join us. Saturday we are all going to the Symphony and will eat on the grounds there.
It has been another beautiful day on the prairie. It stayed below 80 today. The clouds have moved in this afternoon and there is a chance of rain overnight. Tomorrow it is only going to be 74 for the high and we are to have bright blue skies all day. Rain is back in the forecast for Symphony day but maybe it will not impact us during the time we will be there. It is to warm up though and the high is to be in the low 90’s.
I have enjoyed the last couple of empty space days. I feel refreshed and full of energy again. Quiet restores my soul. I am almost ready to people again.
Grateful for mom and dad, grateful for more simplicity and order in my house, and grateful for another beautiful cool day on the prairie.
