The grandkids came out around noon today. I fixed them pancakes, bacon and eggs for a late lunch. Tagen brought his girlfriend with him. They were all so good for me today. They stayed inside where it was cool and watched movies and snacked all afternoon.

I fixed spaghetti and meatballs with banana pudding for dinner tonight. Michelle and Tim came out and joined us for dinner and then took the kids back to town. It was nice to get to spend some time with all of them before we leave Friday.

Ellexia helped me cook today. She scrambled the eggs and then helped me make the spaghetti sauce and banana pudding. She is a good helper and a good cook.

I didn’t get much else done today. I did type up my timeline of getting sick so I have that ready to take with me to the doctor on Thursday. I also typed up the house sitter instructions. Tomorrow I will be busy finishing the cleaning and gathering more stuff up for us to take.

We need to clean out the chicken coop tomorrow and do a feed run. It always feels like a lot of tasks need done before we can get away.

Things didn’t feel easy for me today. I made some iced tea this morning and spilled hot water on my leg. I kept dropping things when I was cooking. The good news is I didn’t have a bathroom emergency again today. I can tell my energy level is slowing starting to rise.

Jim helped me clean out the two freezers today. Not sure I made enough room but at least things are organized now. I found lots more chicken than I thought I had. Lots of frozen veggies too. I haven’t been eating veggies for over a month now. Some how we will make it all work when we get the beef when we return from CO.

I’m tired this evening. I didn’t take my nap today. The kids kept me going all day and I didn’t feel tired but now that they are gone and I can relax I realize how tired I am. It might be an early bed time for me tonight.

I went down to gather eggs this morning and when I opened the door to the nesting boxes didn’t find any eggs. I opened the door to the coop and found 12 eggs in the corner of the coop on the floor. Sometimes a girl will lay one on the floor and then the others follow suit. Silly chickens!

It was in the mid 90’s on the prairie today. The dogs and chickens struggled a bit today to stay cool. I gave the chickens a watermelon to eat – that seems to help them stay better hydrated. I thought about all the workers that have to be out in this heat all day and am grateful I can stay inside where it is cool.

Grateful to get to spend a day with the grandkids, grateful for our air conditioner, and grateful for the quiet of the house this evening.
